The Haul by Haveit Neox is installed at MetaLES through March 31st.

“Hauling, on land and in the sea. Exploring limits and bypassing any respect for them, while stringing our catch into a growing story.”

haul-16

At the landing for MetaLES, the poster on the wall for The Haul is a teleporter for you to arrive on one of the ships.

Flying to the upper level and inside the jellyfish-like creatures, you can enjoy the details of the artist’s palette and intricate 3D creations.

The installation is a beautiful and thoughtful reminder of the respect and care needed for the planet that is our home.

Elle’s Art Lot in Rivulet, Heterocera holds art collections, several on the ground, some in the sky accessed via teleporter.  The Atoll ground texture is enhanced with wildflowers. The water around part of the land has lilies, swans and bamboo contributing to the views and restful feeling to the spaces. The parcel is harmoniously created for the surrounding area as well as expressing Elle Thorkveld’s art and individual taste.

elles-art-lot_001

The TV Room is one of the galleries in the sky showing Elle’s art and was my first learning of the artist Nam June Paik.

Elle Thorkveld is an artist focusing on generative and glitch digital art and music. She enjoys creating SL sculpture, installations and experimental machinima, is a SL and RL photographer and a RL mixed media artist.

Her work focuses on the use of color, novel combinations, movement, randomness & unpredictability.

elles-art-lot_002

The Art Collection Gallery is very well curated by her with a sampling of the pieces she’s acquired.

More from her bio: “I started in SL in 2009 and was drawn to inworld photography, joining Elsbeth Writer’s Wandering Photographers of SL. In the past few years I have been working in generative and glitch art & music. I enjoy co-creating with the computer and like the often chaotic and surprising results.”

Another gallery has retrospective art on the ground level leading up to this room with two of my favorite pieces.

The above photo shows her exhibit at The Blue Zebra Project at Nimar.

She has a colorful, animated 3D piece at Immaterial, University of Western Australia.

She’s also exhibited at MBK Gallery and Montara Bridge Works.

The Hillside Gallery on Heterocera is a treehouse exhibit. It’s a great starting place for  exploration. It’s just off The High Mountain Road, seen in the left of the photo.

elles-art-lot_010

As of this writing, you can hop off the tree house and walk across the land to the tracks where there are interesting places to explore, one seen in the background. There’s a rez zone nearby and a little further down the tracks to the right of what is shown here is a rest stop for travelers.

Elle is also an active participant with Wanderlust Bench Art Park, Quentin and will be hosting the traveling Wanderlust Art Truck at her Art Lot in Rivulet beginning February 26th for about two weeks.

One Billion Rising, Second Life

obr_012

“ONE BILLION RISING began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.”

2Lei

“Every February, we rise – in hundreds of countries across the world – to show our local communities and the world what one billion looks like and shine a light on the rampant impunity and injustice that survivors most often face.  We rise through dance to express joy and community and and celebrate the fact that we have not been defeated by this violence. We rise to show we are determined to create a new kind of consciousness – one where violence will be resisted until it is unthinkable.

And we here in Second Life can be part of this global movement.”

“RISE! DISRUPT! CONNECT!
This year, One Billion Rising Revolution is giving sharper focus and visibility to the exploitation of women, and to harnessing even stronger global solidarity to demand an end to violence in all forms.

One Billion Rising in Second Life 2017
For the fith year, on February 14, 2017, men and women in Second Life will join activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities, and people across the world to Rise, Disrupt and Connect as a show of unity, individual strength, and the need for change.”

Gitu Aura

“The Second Life event features a four-region stage where 200 people can come together to dance, surrounded by an area of art installations, an arena for poetry and dramatic productions, and informational exhibits. A variety of performers are playing over the 24-hour period and poetry and dramatic events will be held at different times, enabling people all over the world to attend this virtual event no matter their timezone. The regions will have a General maturity rating to allow all residents an opportunity to participate. Pictures are welcome on the event’s Flickr group.”

“The objective of the event is to raise awareness, not to raise funds; however, information about real-world organisations will be available for those wishing to donate.

One Billion Rising in Second Life is sponsored by: Cozy Homes, coco, essenz, GIZZA, IDEAZA, KittyCatS!; KOR; La Galleria; Lapointte & Bastchild; Lusch Audio; MadPea; Maven Homes; Meshworx; NX 0 Nardcotix; Park Place; Prim Perfect Publications and Sanctuary.”

OBR Connect Park

What I first noticed about the OBR sims this year is the ambiance of healing and sense of sanctuary. The park areas are inviting oases and the classic elements of the architecture lend a timeless sense of stability. I found both beauty and strength here.

Above is shown one of the gathering areas. Greeters are on duty throughout the 24 hours. There are kiosks with information at landing areas and along the paths.

Information notecards include: About One Billion Rising in Second Life, Advice and Resources, Resources from Around the World and What is Human Trafficking? There is also a Newbie Woman’s SL Survival Kit (Feb 14) and an OBR 2017 Map.

The current art at Wanderlust Bench Art Park will continue to be exhibited until the end of February. The view has been changing with neighbor’s renovations, land sold and abandoned and some recent weird terraforming on abandoned land which might be coding errors or some strategy on the part of the Lab.

art_jan_feb_3

Joining us is Ani Jung with three beautiful nature photographs.

The piece propped against the wall to the left gives a notecard with a timely philosophical quote.

From left to right, by ChrysTeRox, Saul Goodie, Lynette Trinity, Elle Thorkveld and Mango Lassi.

Soon we’ll have been here for one year. I’ve learned a lot taking care of this place and enjoy hanging out with friends here so I don’t begin to associate it only with working and communication tasks. Behind us on the wall to the left are the current destination posters with landmarks and then photography by Pixel Crescendo and Mr Kaplan, the park owner.

Kate Silver, Princess Muse Rose, Wheedle and RMarie Beedit.

Adjacent to the park at the cafe there is a collage by baker Bloch and posters for ongoing events as well as current exhibitions.

The gorgeous kaleidoscope is by Kamika Ying.

art_jan_feb_10

I’ve made some shadowboxes and this one came in handy when I needed something to exhibit here. There’s a photograph on the back of it. An animated sculpture by Elle Thorkveld is nearby.

art_jan_feb_11

There are some home decor pieces too. The vases like the one shown in the left of the photo get changed more often than every two months.

The large birdhouse contains a couple of 3D Cylents and a quiet lounge.

art_jan_feb_12

Saul Goodie has begun putting some of his designs on men and women’s clothing for the new STYYLL FASHION brand.

art-truck_001

To help keep things enjoyable, a friend and I are doing a related side project, the Wanderlust Art Truck Tour which will be stopping at various small parcels on the mainland for about 10 — 14 days each. The soft opening was February 1st and film clips have been collected of some of the visitors so far. The exhibit will be in Rosieri through the 9th and will open in another location on the 11th.

There are five more locations penciled in. A poster is on the cafe side at Wanderlust with current locations. If you’d like to participate by contributing low Li art, being in the documentaries or hosting the truck please contact me, pearlgrey resident.

This first location isn’t usually a public destination. I accidentally auto returned my home while filming the truck, which is difficult to drive, as it entered the yard. After the shock, I found it hilarious to edit a (less than two minute) video of it.
