Let it Snow 5

These are some of the pictures I took at Let It Snow. I looked at almost everything and was in the right mood for the whimsical things I saw that day.Let it Snow 1It was sparkly and there’s comfortable places to sit down and get warm.Let it Snow 4

It’s been good to see all the wonderful photos taken of this place and others but it’s almost always worth it to go see them myself when I have a chance.Let it Snow 8

I’m guessing most winter places will be around in January so everyone will have more of chance to enjoy them after the busy time of year.Let it Snow 9

The winter sims are so peaceful usually.

Be safe New Year’s Eve.

Happy Holidays

Christmas was the tradition in my typist’s family of origin. This is the first year in a while that she’s put a tree up at home so I didn’t didn’t decorate this year. My pretty tree is sitting in inventory.

My typist has become less sentimental than she used to be though. She’s looking forward to new chapters and understanding that it’s not only necessary but safe to let things go.

Whatever the holidays mean to you, we wish you the best. This photo was taken in the greenhouse of The Chamber Library, which has recently moved.

Bar Moony Rain, Bay City

Bar Moony Rain_003

In Bay City there’s a bar where it rains most of the time. Bar Moony Rain is a great place to go for quiet conversation, dancing or simply sitting at the bar when you need to get some work done.Bar Moony Rain_001There’s also a back yard with seating. The sheep are well behaved. Bar Moony Rain_002Instead of hiding in a skybox, this is a good place to hang out for an hour or so and if you want to stretch your legs, there are other things to look at nearby.

Chalet Linden, mainland, Sansara, Wengen

Wengen_1

There’s lots of space to play in the snow in Wengen on the continent of Sansara. In the photo above I’m taking a break in front of Chalet Linden. There’s a rez zone nearby and a hangout inside the chalet. There’s even a group to join for people who spend time there. I was impressed by the art on the second floor by Sky Everett, who’s over 10 years old. Governor Linden has better taste than I would have thought or else he relied on a decorator.Wengen_3There are at least two ski lifts nearby with complimentary skiis and poles. I was quite comfortable taking photos and skiing in the outfit I already had on.Wengen_4The downhill slopes last for at least a couple of minutes which is a long virtual time. I was impressed with how great I am at skiing.Wengen_5When I was done skiing, I made my way over to the well supplied bar near the lake. There’s ice skating there; complimentary skates are available.Wengen_6The views are beautiful. Most of the time the skates work; once they weren’t loaded or something and I would be sitting in the air, even with my AO off. The views were still pretty; I just looked odd. With no one else around at the time, I didn’t fret about it.Wengen_7If you have time and haven’t worn yourself out, there’s a road that wanders through the nearby villages.

A Return to Lollygagger Lane

Lollygagger Lane, Ziki Questi

LL_1

It had been a while since I strolled around the hobo safe camp of Lollygagger Lane. There had been some changes but the spirit of the place is still strong. What drew me to the area was a photographic exhibit by Ziki Questi at the Lollygagger Art Center. The exhibit is open through December.ZQ_001

It was my first visit to the art center; I hadn’t even been aware of its existence. I’d always been at ground level and center is elevated. I had a pleasant time viewing the photos, which are available for purchase and then leapt down to ground.LL_2The area looks inclusive to everyone. There’s a free dirt layer tattoo available for those who want to go native. LL_3There’s a beach for those who must be near water. I walked past what looked like small waterside cabin rentals which I’d not noticed on previous visits. There are also shops near the main highway.LL_4The wind was up, causing a dirt storm but I was relieved to take a break from all the snow I’ve been tromping through.LL_5After seeing some cute and odd looking animals I wisely decided not to drink any beverages or eat anything there.LL_6I looked around in the nooks and crannies. This place is older than I am. LL_7After taking these photos I rested, then snoozed a bit. When I woke up it was night time and I felt accomplished for having a good visit to Lollygagger Lane.

Giovanna Cerise, LEA

LEA21_001Here are some photos from a recent visit to Chaos-Kosmos by Giovanna Cerise. There are teleports near the landing for the different areas as well as information about the installations.

The first two photos are from “Caos”, the Algorithm of History by Daco Monday.  LEA21_002The next two photos are from “Oservatorium”, the Algorithm Between Fantasy and Prediction by Nino Vichan.LEA21_003I spent a little more time than I’d planned, sitting in the seats to observe the views.LEA21_004The last two photos are from “Live and Die” by Pol Jarvinen.LEA21_005Giovanna Cerise has an installation too, with a teleport near the landing. There are no photos here; I was running out of time and simply wanted to enjoy it. It’s well worth seeing and I doubted any photos I might take would do it justice.LEA21_006

New Babbage

New Babbage_1The steampunk port of New Babbage is a place I like to return to when I’m in a certain mood. During the winter there, I like to visit at least once. Right now I’m sitting in The Royal Scandinavian Tea House in Port Babbage as I type a little something to go with the photos I took a few days ago.New Babbage_3A little while ago I noticed that Designing Worlds is doing their show today about New Babbage. I’ll be sure to watch that on Treet TV on the web later in the week. I think it will be informative as well as enjoyable to watch.New Babbage_5This year I’m more in the mood for seeing winter in established sims that are in virtual existence year round.New Babbage_9I tromped around in the snow looking at holiday decorations and took breaks in the various pubs and tea houses.New Babbage_10

New Babbage is a community with events and groups to join.  When I landed today I saw a rezday celebration is planned for one of the regulars.New Babbage_11I ended my visit with some absinthe, always a treat.

The Retreat

the retreat_009The Retreat in Monty is a place that was barely on my radar until I got a comment on a post I’d written back in March about the Le Clos Miron house that had been recently released. Anjelikka Kowalski has one and welcomed me to look at what she’d done with it. When I went to collect the landmark for later I saw that her place was near a road on the mainland. I changed my plans and explored The Retreat right then before traipsing off down the road.    the retreat_001It was snowing when I got there. There’s a tiny present hunt running through December 31 and a photo contest through January 31. In the pavilion is an advent calendar. There are several decorated trees scattered about, ice skates and a snowball thrower to use as well as places to dance.  Sometimes I take my dogs with me when I explore but the one in the photo above belongs to Santa, I think.the retreat_002The presents are fairly easy to find; I was more focused on taking pictures. All the info about the photo contest, group learn of events Anjellika has planned and such are easily found. the retreat_007I don’t get to see many of the Le Clos Miron homes and was pleased to visit. I noticed Anjelikka also has a blog, marketplace store, and art photos on flickr.

The dog with the bow on his tail in the photo above is an avatar. the retreat_012I caught her snoozing a little and then we talked about some future events she has planned.  the retreat_015It’s good she has so many projects. I’m concerned there’s some evidence right here that otherwise she might be going down that road of becoming a crazy cat lady.

Cafe Green Gables

cafegg_001

There’s lots of snowy, cold days ahead. Autumn is my favorite season. Recently I visited Cafe Green Gables on Beauty Islands for the first time. Good use has been made of a small area with charming details.cafegg_002The Cafe is cozy with seating for conversations with a friend or to have coffee while getting some work done.cafegg_004There are reminders of our animal friends with several cats, a dog and also feathered creatures.cafegg_006Nearby, outside the gate, is a library. cafegg_007Upstairs is a work space. It looks ideal for day dreaming instead of working.
