Vinyard at Checkmate.

vinyard at checkmate_014I’ve been seeing lots of beautiful Flickr photos taken at Vinyard at Checkmate. Here are a few of mine. Both the indoor decor and outdoors were gorgeous.vinyard at checkmate_006vinyard at checkmate_012vinyard at checkmate_019What I loved most about this build is that my grandparents had a home like this. They made wine too, Riesling. Their house had a huge, screened wraparound porch which they spent a lot of time on during the summer. When they weren’t working.  vinyard at checkmate_020This nostalgia, among other things, has me looking forward to summer.

In June I’m going to cut back on my blogging to about one post a week and relax more when I’m logged into Second Life.

ASU Heritage Island

ua_1Here are a few more photos from my stash I snapped at ASU Heritage Island.  Above shows a room with the items used in the Hemingway barn studio. ua_2Some of the items used on the sim are displayed in a shop and some can be purchased.ua_3ua_4The outside of the museum/store.ua_5This is a replica of the creative space where the builder, Painter Merriman works on his projects.ua_6There’s a real life Southern Tenant Farmers Museum as well as this virtual one.ua_7There was still some construction going on when I visited over a week ago.ua_8There are slides about the history of the area.

This is my fourth post about ASU Heritage Island during the past couple of weeks; I really recommend exploring.

Athen Shire_001Some of the 3D art at the Raglan Shire ArtWalk 2015 is located at Athen Shire. Just a few more days and the tenth ArtWalk will be over. About 120 artists have submitted 2D and 3D art this year.  The photo above shows a walk-in installation by Kerupo Flow.Athen Shire_002Unseen Ibis by Corcosman Voom.Athen Shire_003By Corcosman Voom. Thanks to the everyone who’s participated in organizing the ArtWalk and for the residents of Raglan Shire for welcoming all of us to their home for a month.

mansion 1Here are the photos I snapped of the virtual Pfieffer Mansion at ASU Heritage Island. The house is in Piggott, Arkansas and was the family home of Ernest Hemingway’s second wife Pauline Pfieffer. mansion 2The builder is Painter Merriman. The house is near the converted barn studio of Hemingways which I blogged about here. It’s also on the sim where you can find a build of Johnny Cash’s boyhood home in Dyess, Arkansas which I blogged about here.mansion 3You can read more about Arkansas Heritage Sites here.mansion 6I’ll have another post soon about other places I enjoyed on this sim.mansion 7

ASU Heritage Island, Hemingway

hemingway 6The virtual converted barn that served as a studio for Hemingway in the 1930’s can be seen at ASU Heritage Island. Part of A Farewell to Arms was written here.hemingway 1The studio was on the property of the parents of his second wife, Pauline Pfeiffer in Piggott, Arkansas. hemingway 2The virtual Pfeiffer mansion is nearby. I have photos of it which I’ll post soon but it would be great if you would go see it for yourself.hemingway 3It looks like it would have been a peaceful place to write. And the cats must surely have enjoyed it.hemingway 4It’s simple but the comforts of the mansion were close.

Umbral Photography

umbral_008It’s spring season at Umbral Photography. It’s a beautiful place to hang out or take photographs as I did last winter, posting here.  umbral_001I took the time to use the Firestorm viewer and play with the settings.umbral_002Last time, I wasn’t able to fly around to get some shots but this visit I was. umbral_003This is an Adult rated sim. In one of the corners is a Bd/Sm club. In my previous post I mentioned that the door was open and I wasn’t sure if it’s open to the public. Someone associated with the sim left a comment that it is indeed open to the public and photography is allowed inside.umbral_005But I was enjoying the photo shoot and stayed outdoors. umbral_009umbral_010

Arkansas State University, ASU Heritage Island, Johnny Cash

cash_001I saw one of Torley’s photos taken at Arkansas State University’s Heritage Island of the boyhood home of Johnny Cash in Dyess Arkansas. It is an amazing place and there’s so much more to the sim but today I’m showing the pictures I took of this home which is as it was in the 1940’s.  cash_004The builder for the sim is Painter Meriman. cash_005The landscaping and foliage is quite accurate for this part of the country. And the virtual buildings are remarkable as you can see from the photos on the Arkansas Heritage Site.cash_006The inside of the home is wonderful. It’s small, as homes were in the days before McMansions. cash_007There are so many details to look at. I have spent hours there and have been taking people with me who find it fascinating as well.cash_008This is the first build I’ve seen at ASU Heritage Island. I wonder what I’ve missed in my three and a half years of Second Life.cash_009I have three more posts with lots of pictures. But really, you should go and see it for yourself.cash_010Two of my favorite things are the floor coverings and the painting over the couch.cash_011

From the destination guide: “Joanne Cash provided detailed drawings of the interior layout of the home which enabled a faithful recreations of the residence as it was in 1940’s”  cash_012Wouldn’t it be great if the press would take note of this sort of thing in Second Life.

Or friendly strangers, whether they be tinies or biggies. RS2_002There are also events and parties. Information kiosks are available.RS2_006Almost all the art is available for purchase, including the sculpture.RS2_008This year there’s a face painting booth.RS2_009RS2_010RS2_011RS2_012
