While looking through the destination guide I was a little surprised to see that some frightful places that I looked at last Halloween are available year round. This place is Dark Dharma Haunted Manor. It was nice to be the only resident exploring when I went and I always like to see what folks have done with the Hackberry Hall house.

In this particular picture I was experimenting with the new “Clouds” textures in picmonkey. “Water” is a new texture set with the basic free set-up and “Clouds” is with subscription only. Most of the photos I’ve experimented on don’t look quite right to me but I really love how the above picture turned out.     haunted_01Pearl took a nap while I was working in another window. She didn’t do any of the hunt or game things, just looked around. Later while she was wandering around in the backyard I wasn’t watching out for her and she was “killed” and teleported home.

This visit happened before she got her three dogs.

Visit to Timamoon Arts

gallery_002Late Sunday night I teleported to Carrie Lexington’s gallery space in Timamoon Arts which I’d learned about from her blog. It was intended to be just a quick visit but I looked at all the spaces on the several floors and saw a lot of art that I really liked including black and white pieces by Bear Silvershade who’s work I first saw at SL10B.

It made me smile to see that every floor had couples dances available. Only in Second Life, right?

gallery_001The SLurl I got from Carrie’s blog landed me directly in her gallery space where I took this photo which has been cropped and framed only. When I was leaving the building I saw signs posted in the entry, one saying “Stop Art Theft” and the other saying “No Photography” which of course, I understand. Since Carrie has posted pictures of her photographs and gallery on her blog and flickr page I feel it’s all right to show this picture.

Her work is lovely and it seems like she’s enjoying her new gallery space.

shopping, virtual destinations

When I look at the destination guide on my Second Life dashboard I’m intending to find interesting events or beautiful locations. It just recently registered with me that a lot of shopping places are listed there as well. When I’ve needed something I’ve relied on word-of-mouth, blogs, researching the marketplace or teleporting from the viewer search results.

When I saw the pages of places, I picked one at random from ‘furnishings and decor’ in the Home and Garden Category. It’s titled Cat’s Dirt Project in the guide; when I teleported it was to a place called ‘City 17 Postapocalyptic Shopping Mall Neko Trash”. Yes, there are vendors and signs but not in an overwhelming way; it’s so much more fun than a mall  (which can be convenient and social for some, I know) and there were lots of gorgeous places to take pictures. You can even pick up a free, grungy biofuel truck if you so wish.

I do love the natural world and I enjoy being IN it but scenes of old, abandoned places have such a palpable sense of story for me.

grunge_006If I were a fashion blogger and didn’t wear the same outfit for days and weeks at  a time I would use locations like this for my shoots.

Tableau_3_1This is my final post of Tableau photos.

Pearl is usually open-minded about creating the future.

It was fun playing tourist.
Tableau_3_4

I wonder why I haven’t noticed more fashion bloggers using Tableau as a setting.

When you visit, be careful to follow the caution signs or you may find yourself in an environment like this. This is a raw shot with a frame added.
Tableau_3_6There were interesting dances and since no one else was around, Pearl played on the stage. And so went her visit to Tableau.

The colors and architectural details were lovely at Tableau. And so many great views to photograph!

I wasn’t in the mood for shopping but I was really charmed by the Tatty Soup store shown in the above photo.Tableau_2_3Tableau_2_5Tableau_2_6Tableau_2_7

Tableau_1-1

This past weekend I visited Tableau for the first time after noticing it as background on a fashion blog. I was attracted to the colors. It might be easy to let jadedness creep into my Second Life experience sometimes and then I discover something new to me. Tableau_009The above is a raw shot; I love the colors. I wasn’t feeling sociable at all and happily spent a long time wandering around alone and taking photos. I took so many I like that I’m going to post them over three days.

Tableau_1_2

There’s lots of good shopping here for people who enjoy that but there’s so much other stuff to see and it’s a wonderful place to take pictures. Tableau_1-3The place appeals to me in so many ways and it was soothing since I’m still feeling like keeping my distance from SL. That isn’t really a problem; I’m just noticing it.

Tableau_1_4

Most of these photos were processed very simply in picmonkey with a click or two. I don’t go for fussing and perfection; it’s just the overall mood and look I like to alter a little.Tableau_1_5

Tableau_1_6It seemed like this place has been around for a while and it just hadn’t come to my attention before.
