The seasonal refresh at elle’s art lot is well under way. A new exhibit, Slice, is installed in the greenhouse.

A variety of artist’s have exhibited during the past several years; this current group of  2D pieces are by Elle Thorkveld herself.

The restful grounds hold 2D and 3D art collected and curated by Elle, as well as elements of nature. Near the greenhouse is a two story gallery accessed via teleport button on the outside wall.

The art in the boathouse has recently been updated as well.

It’s also a two story building.

The parcel is in harmony with the surrounding landscape, and is a pleasant place to visit with friends.

Elle’s Art Lot is located in Rivulet on The Atoll. You can see Second Life landmarks in the background of the above photo.

Virtually Feminine is the name of the photography exhibit showing currently at Elle’s ArtLot in Rivulet. New photos by Myra Wildmist are on display, as well as a few retrospective pieces by her from Elle Thorkveld’s collection.

I really enjoy seeing art in outdoor settings, which is something that can be easily implemented in a virtual world. There is much to see on the rest of the grounds at ArtLot, with teleporters to more areas in the sky, after viewing Virtually Feminine.

Elle curated the exhibit, selecting some photos from Myra’s Flickr.

Myra Wildmist has exhibited her work in many virtual locations. She has generously shared what’s she learned, including in Kultivate Magazine, and on her own blog.

I enjoyed decorating inside the gallery, and watching the process of the exhibit unfold. One of Myra’s earlier photos, from about four or so years ago, Q is for quiescent mind, is displayed indoors, shown on the right in the photo above.

Pixel Crescendo, a friend and virtual photographer, was commissioned to help document the exhibit. All the photos in this post are his work.

You are invited to view Virtually Feminine by Myra Wildmist at Elle’s ArtLot.

Toasted, a 2D art exhibit by Serra Qendra, is on display in the intimate artist loft gallery at Artlot in Rivulet.

The original installation was exhibited at Burn 2 Equinox 2019. This 2D installation attempts to further abstract and distill the concepts as indicated in the artist statement.

The artist bio is in the sandwich board outside the gallery, and is one of the most interesting bios I’ve read inworld.

Artlot is owned and maintained by Elle Thorkveld and exhibits work by her and other artists in a peaceful nature setting. It changes seasonally.

The installation, Contemplating Overlapping Realities, is made up of four 2D digital art pieces, nine written contemplations, and seven written articulations. Opening in late September of last year, it has been extended to show throughout the rest of this month.

“Contemplating Overlapping Realities came about when Elle Thorkveld invited Klaus and I to create something for the space in the gallery that had previously held a Resistance exhibit.

Creating a flow from that, I began with something closer to the micro level, regarding change. More than merely whining, or passive-aggressively directing at someone, I examined areas of sharing where fresh air and upgrades are being called for.

The meditations, if you will, are softened by the visuals and ambiance of the gallery and the parcel it is located on, Elle’s Artlot.

You are invited to spend time here while you consider an aspect of your reality where you are overlapping with that of another, in which you would like to have it become healthier and more grown-up. This awareness often begins with a negative view and with a little imagination can be spun into more positive words and outlooks.”

~ Pearl Grey ~ September 16, 2018

“Articulations are slower than dialogue: what I might say with the benefit of contemplation that is so seldom present in the moment of an interaction.

They cannot always be said out loud in linear time, but I see this exhibit as an moment for ‘speaking nevertheless’. Words matter, and when we lock them in they can rot in us.

My own contemplations in this space have led me to see that, in any human relating, it is the unsaid that often contains the greatest power to harm and heal. Not being heard is diminishing. Perceptions that are not checked out loud against reality can be so very wrong.

On the other hand, there are sublime things for which we can rarely find the language, good things that open us up like a flower when we acknowledge them.”

~ Klaus Bereznyak ~ Sept 2018

When you arrive at Elle’s ArtLot, you’ll see pages spilling out of the exhibit room. The poster to the left of the door contains two notecards, one about the installation, and the other with the collection of the articulations and contemplations.

The vibrant, animated art to the right of the door is by Aneli Abeyante. There is much more to see on this parcel in Rivulet.

Elle’s Art Lot in Rivulet, Heterocera holds art collections, several on the ground, some in the sky accessed via teleporter.  The Atoll ground texture is enhanced with wildflowers. The water around part of the land has lilies, swans and bamboo contributing to the views and restful feeling to the spaces. The parcel is harmoniously created for the surrounding area as well as expressing Elle Thorkveld’s art and individual taste.

The TV Room is one of the galleries in the sky showing Elle’s art and was my first learning of the artist Nam June Paik.

Elle Thorkveld is an artist focusing on generative and glitch digital art and music. She enjoys creating SL sculpture, installations and experimental machinima, is a SL and RL photographer and a RL mixed media artist.

Her work focuses on the use of color, novel combinations, movement, randomness & unpredictability.

The Art Collection Gallery is very well curated by her with a sampling of the pieces she’s acquired.

More from her bio: “I started in SL in 2009 and was drawn to inworld photography, joining Elsbeth Writer’s Wandering Photographers of SL. In the past few years I have been working in generative and glitch art & music. I enjoy co-creating with the computer and like the often chaotic and surprising results.”

Another gallery has retrospective art on the ground level leading up to this room with two of my favorite pieces.

The above photo shows her exhibit at The Blue Zebra Project at Nimar.

She has a colorful, animated 3D piece at Immaterial, University of Western Australia.

She’s also exhibited at MBK Gallery and Montara Bridge Works.

The Hillside Gallery on Heterocera is a treehouse exhibit. It’s a great starting place for  exploration. It’s just off The High Mountain Road, seen in the left of the photo.

As of this writing, you can hop off the tree house and walk across the land to the tracks where there are interesting places to explore, one seen in the background. There’s a rez zone nearby and a little further down the tracks to the right of what is shown here is a rest stop for travelers.

Elle is also an active participant with Wanderlust Bench Art Park, Quentin and will be hosting the traveling Wanderlust Art Truck at her Art Lot in Rivulet beginning February 26th for about two weeks.
