SC_05

One of my favorite things to do in SL these days is relax by exploring the weird mainland. Saint Chichid is somewhere on Sansara and I cautiously approached. It’s open to the public; there’s a couple of reasonable rules that pop up in local chat.

SC_03

What I liked best was the breezy views, the sense of some protection from the elements with fresh air and the outdoors close.

SC_04The place is mostly furnished with the free pirate furniture I’ve seen many places of the grid. There’s a huge, flat screen television; otherwise everything is from another time. Someone made a space and it’s being maintained; it looks like it’s been here for a long time.

SC_01This is a view in back. There seems to be some construction going on in the woods and they have neighbors but I stayed close in to the building.

There seems to be a lot going on in SL right now and with so much going on in my typist’s life I’m just staying kind of low key. The mainland is easy for that sort of anonymous, easy-to-leave-gracefully-and-quickly sort of experience.

Hera's Island, Sansara, virtual destinations

Hera's Island_002

One of the small islands off the coast of  Sansara is Hera’s Island. Nearby is Bacchus Island and Poseidon Island in the Sea of Fables. They aren’t crowded but people hang out there, often creative, intelligent old-timers who don’t read blogs or keep up with virtual reality news or the latest in appearances.

There’s also a place nearby where residents transitioned from the teen grid but it looks abandoned from a distance and I didn’t explore further.

Hera's Island_001I’m used to the weird ads around my Second Life dashboard page. Lately there’s one asking if I’m sick of Second Life. It’s for something called Entropia. I’m thinking when I get sick of Second Life I won’t want to sign up for another site.

Camomile, shopping, virtual destinations

hula_012

As I mentioned yesterday, I enjoyed taking photos on the Camomile sim. There are a lot of shops and it’s also an attractive place.

hula_013Some of the shops are Japanese. There’s wildlife around and some of the animals have wandered inside. One shop has large desserts which are actually furniture.

hula_014I was there so long that the light changed. It was night for part of the time and it was interesting how my skin looked a lot darker when it was night. I thought it looked great with my leis.

hula_016Flying isn’t allowed on most of the sim but it is at the Charmed store where I got my plumeria accessories. There’s a pretty hangout place on the roof you can fly to.

I didn’t take the time to fit the headband to my wild Tantrum hair from Analog Dog. And I’m fine with it.

Here I’m sitting on the roof of Charmed in my plumeria flowers. I got on the trail of them after seeing a headband in a photo while scrolling quickly through the blog feeds.  I bought these from the marketplace and then logged in to unpack them and explore the store while I was watching the live stream of the Merrie Monarch hula competition late at night.

It’s on from about 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. my time and I look forward to and watch it for three nights every year since the stream has been available. Technology can be wonderful sometimes.

hula_001

I wandered around the Camomile sim that this shop was on while the hula festival was streaming on the laptop that has audio but doesn’t play SL in any way I can tolerate. This sim was a new place for me although I’ve heard of some of the shops. It’s pleasant to my eye and I took photos which I want to show soon.

And I’ll likely keep my plumeria flowers on for some time. 🙂

Art Dummy, shopping, virtual destinations

art dummy_01

It’s a good idea. And when you lose your balance or have a meltdown, you can remember to do what you can to take good care of yourself.   art dummy_02

Some of the pleasant places to visit in Second Life are around stores. I’ve been to several lately including here at Art Dummy. The store itself looks great as does their stuff. When I checked a few of the items scattered around the hangout area, many seemed to be made by other brands and that’s the sort of appreciation I like to see.  art dummy_03

I don’t remember why I went here but I stayed for a while.art dummy_04

There’s plenty of light and space and no jarring colors or shapes.art dummy_05I hope all my readers have a wonderful weekend. I’ll be inworld a while to attend to some things but my priority screen time will be watching the annual Merrie Monarch hula competition which is streamed live from the Big Island.

lost town

One of the virtual places I return to is Lost Town and here are some photos taken there with art by CapCat Ragu and Meilo Minotaur.  Information is available near the landing. lost town_02

There are four eggs you can hunt to obtain avatars. I’m not good at hunting but I found all four, or rather my alt did. What I’ll tell you is that three were easy to find and the fourth was a little ways out; also they are about the size of my head and easily seen.

lost town_03

The two sewer photos I posted Tuesday were taken in Lost Town.

lost town_04

I’ve been considering using a bird avatar for a while and I actually have one from my role playing days in Legacies 1891. I’m finding the need to be way more efficient with my time in SL and even the minimal I do with my avatar appearance slows me down. I haven’t unpacked the eggs on my alt account yet, but one of them might work.lost town_05I liked the cats too.

This is a great sim to visit repeatedly. There’s a sense of stability and place yet they have a freshness of art installations that change.

You might think I’m delicate and ladylike but I’ve spent a fair amount of time in virtual sewers and find they have a sort of beauty. There’s a lot of hidden charm underground and underwater. There are surprises and weird and quirky creations from the imaginations of our human typists.

art, Art'e Gallery, East River Community, Helvellyn, Ohsoleomio, virtual destinations

art'e_004While I don’t spend a lot of time and effort perfecting my photography, I am conscious of what I do and don’t include in pictures. There are many approaches to blogging other people’s art including in the wild west of virtual reality. The artwork I’m looking at through the window above is real life paintings brought into the Art’e Gallery in the East River Community on Sansara.

art'e_003You can pick up info on the artist, Ohsoleomio, from a clickable bio sign just inside the door.  There’s a link to a website with over 700 pieces. She’s worked in acrylics, watercolors, pencils and inks and is concentrating on digital art right now. She’s taken paintings and applied them to bowls, vases, glass panels and other objects. After reading the notecards, I have the impression the artist is approachable for questions, requests, etc.

art'e_002I like to explore around an area these days instead of simply teleporting in and out so often. Odd maybe, for someone who doesn’t like to take time to change her outfit for every different activity. I wandered up to a hang-out place on the roof top of the gallery after I looked at the two floors of paintings.

art'e_001

Anyway, here are some of the pieces, carefully positioned in the picture. It’s a pleasant and inspiring place to spend some time.

Bates Motel, Bates Motel Apocalypse, virtual destinations

Bates Motel_004I’d forgotten that Bates Motel Apocalypse was in Second Life and recently I made my first visit out of curiosity. It’s the location for a zombie fighting game and that hadn’t appealed to me before. Once you’re inside the house or the motel, the zombies leave you alone so I was able to take some photos. There’s supposedly a free hud available to fight them although I didn’t see where to pick it up. The landmark I got in Search had me arriving in the parking lot near the sign.

Bates Motel_008Television is boring to me these days but I’m amused with watching episodes of Bates Motel. Inside the house setting on the series, I sometimes think it would be great to walk around in it. That’s what set me off on my exploration. There are plenty of zombies and other creepy things in the woods and grounds, actually more than I’ve seen anywhere else in SL. They bumped into me like newbies which made me a little dizzy after a while.

Bates Motel_003I looked into a few of the motel rooms. I tried out the shower but nothing happened, maybe because I wasn’t wearing the hud. I was the only avatar around at the time but I checked to see that there has been traffic recently.

Bates Motel_011This must be Norman’s room. I went into the basement of the house but there was no taxidermy stuff.

It can’t end well.

Bates Motel_009My laptop has no audio these days so I’m sure I missed out on some amazing ambient sounds but my visit made me laugh and was a pleasant break to my day.
