In mid-April, the Art Park turned five, quite a while in SL years, and even RL years considering all the changes, and the pace of that world. Several of the artists and participants have contributed consistently since the very beginning. I see my roles as Park Ranger, Documentarian, Role Model for Persistence, and Artist.

The photo above shows my work on the ground floor of the gallery building at Wanderlust Cafe and Art Park Expansion, owned by Minty Vanilla, who has generously shared the parcel for the past five years.

The Cafe currently holds some pieces by Klaus. These photos are of the March and April exhibit, and over the next week and a half the works will shift to the next two months.

On the 512 Wanderlust Art Park parcel, there are two virtual photos by Kate Silver, taken at Orange by Livio Korobase, which is closing at the end of this month.

This piece is by Quinn, who has hosted the Art Park for the past five years.

On the left, digital art by Elle Thorkveld, and a virtual photograph by Veyot. They’ve both been consistently supportive with their work, and adding to the sense of community.

Klaus has been a contributor since the beginning, not only with images, but also with the written word in the form of original Art Park Essays, and sometimes quotes which can be received via notecard. He is also a handyperson and sounding board.

_Wanderlust Art Park Mar-April 2021_003

My digital piece is on the left. Wheedle’s art, on the right, is actually for May and June. I didn’t get to the park with my camera in time for his previous piece. He has consistently updated his art since the beginning, and has also gifted us with creative posters for Wanderlust, and for Second Life.

_Wanderlust Art Park Mar-April 2021_001

Klaus’ Art Park Essay is notecarded in the image on the right. Veyot’s lovely Owl photo is on the left, which was preceded by a photo of one of Cica’s Saxophonists, echoing Klaus’ saxophonist. The colorful, digital art in the middle is by Amy Inawe, who has shared a wonderful variety of pieces over the years. She is also a poet.

It’s autumn season at Wanderlust Bench Art Park, a familiar outdoor setting, while once again some of the surrounding parcels are for sale or have changed ownership.

by Amy Inawe and Klaus Bereznyak

This photo showing Amy’s and Klaus’ art was taken before the land between the park and sea had a clothing store rezzed. While it currently the blocks the view, the building is a non-glowing, neutral texture that would make a good backdrop for murals or more art pieces.

by Quinn

The land for sale is large and expensive, and might attract someone with ambitious plans. Quinn, the park founder has recently renewed his Premium account, and so Wanderlust will continue.

by Elle Thorkveld and Veyot

There were several black and white studies in the mix this round.

by Wheedle and Klaus

Even with the new building so close, there’s a spacious, light feeling remaining.

by Pearl Grey

I enjoyed making another collage, and in the latter half of October I changed the texture to one with ghosts.

by Elle Thorkveld

The destination and event posters are checked regularly and updated. Most are for, but not limited to mainland destinations.

There’s still an open view of the sea from Wanderlust Cafe courtyard.

On exhibit inside the cafe are pieces of asemic writing by Klaus.

I’m displaying mixed media pieces on the ground floor of the gallery, while the floor above has graphic art by Minty Vanilla.

The tango club shown in the background remains quite active. The large wall in the left of the photo is on land for sale next to the road, and has since been removed.

The art will be refreshed for November and December: there’s another week to see the current art. All are welcome.

The current exhibits at Wanderlust Bench Art Park continue through the end of the month. Zia Branner has a delightful selection of her artwork in the Wanderlust Cafe, and on the cafe rooftop.

The surrounding parcels have stabilized for the time being, and the cafe and park are a pleasant summer destination.

Owls watch over the outdoor dining area, including a digital art piece by Klaus, and a collage by Pearl Hyacinth.

One of my collages is exhibited next to a drawing by Wheedle in the park.

Colorful pieces are propped up against the wall – an animated digital piece by Amy Inawe, and a digital image containing an essay, by Klaus.

A photograph by Art Park owner Quinn, and a trompe l’oeil by Veyot are on the fence at the parcel border near the tango club.

All kindly visitors are welcome, and there is room for more art to be exhibited. Above from left to right are pieces by Klaus, Minty Vanilla, and Elle Thorkveld.

Eggs by Klaus

It was a very different world four years ago on April 17th, 2016 when Quinn Leilani obtained a 512 parcel in Quentin, Sansara with a new, bargain, three month Premium membership. He offered the use of the land to some artists who’d been exhibiting work in the old motel at Lollygaggers, as long as I was willing to take care the project.

springtime dream by Veyot and The Authentic Girl Collage by Pearl

I invited a few people to participate and was delighted when two days later LiL Mint (SAULGOODIE) bought the parcel next door and set up WANDERLUST Cafe and Art Park Expansion.

by Wheedle, Klaus, and LiL Mint

It was a lab experiment in exhibiting art, intended to be relaxing, and to encourage avatars to keep creating and showing their work. We wanted to forego the parties and events, and instead hope that the group members would take an interest in the creations and activities of each other.

by Elle Thorkveld and Quinn

Elle Thorkveld has one of her colorful digital art pieces for this round and Quinn chose a photo of the neighboring parcel on the Cafe side. Many neighbors have come and gone during the last four years. I miss the lighthouses, but not the banlined Correctional Center.

The Tango Club next to the park is quite lively, and often filled with dancers.  The landscaping next to the Cafe is restful, with Monkeypod trees and a beech forest. Perhaps the Quentin region will be somewhat stable for awhile.

by Amy Inawe, Klaus, and Myra Wildmist

Many of the group members appreciate the Mainland, and there are posters with landmarks to their cafe’s, galleries, and other public parcels.

For those who like to read, a brief, timely essay is available on a notecard in the piece Klaus props against the fence, as shown in the middle above.

3D collage by Pearl Grey

We began by changing the art every month, then realized it was more sustainable to show the exhibits for two months. Many of the artists have been consistently exhibiting for the entire four years.

Pulsar sculpture by Elle Thorkveld.

Part of the experiment had to do with changing the  “curator” role. I consider myself to be more of a park ranger, and an initiator instead of a “leader’.

LiL Mint has created a very pleasant space with the Cafe, and the courtyard which can hold 3D pieces and other installations. There’s a gallery on the parcel too.

by Zia Sophia

New, and very welcome to Art Park, and exhibiting in WANDERLUST Cafe is Zia Sophia (Zia Branner).

by Giselle Seeker

Giselle’s colorful works are on the ground floor of the gallery, and LiL Mint’s graphic art is on the top floor.

Real Life and Second Life are both unpredictable. At this point, I am planning to have another exhibit for May and June at Wanderlust Bench Art Park.

Second Life, Wanderlust Bench Art Park

The autumn season exhibit at Bench Art Park and Wanderlust Cafe and Art Park Expansion holds 2D and 3D art, writing, and posters for events and destinations.

The previous box/collection of destinations from May 2017, had 6 of an original 18 landmarks remaining current, which is good in SL. A new, updated box of posters is available, with a folder of the posters/landmarks in a free box, or individual posters from the wall.

Myra Wildmist contributed a photo using projectors.

Digital art by Amy Inawe and Klaus. A timely essay is on a notecard in the piece by Klaus.

Elle Thorveld

By Wheedle, Klaus, and Lil Mint.

By Veyot and Pearl Grey.

The Reverent Fear is a story by MBeatrix set in Innsmouth. The book links to the story on Tumblr, and a collection of photos is exhibited nearby.

By Seraphim Placebo

Wanderlust Cafe is holding photos by Melusina Parkin from a private collection. There are 3D pieces on the roof and in the courtyard of the cafe.

The ground floor of the gallery has an exhibit by Giselle Seeker. Lil Mint is showing digital art on the floor above.

You’re welcome to stop by and enjoy the art, park, and cafe.

Wanderlust Bench Art Park

by Wheedle, Klaus

The current exhibit at Wanderlust Bench Art Park is available to visit until the end of August.

by Veyot, Pearl Grey

The outdoor park setting has on display, virtual photography, digital art, the beginning of a graphic story with a link to a Tumblr blog, and a Dream Tea Machine that dispenses cups of tea.

by Lil Mint

As usual, there was no theme although sometimes suggestions are given for those who like prompts.

by serra Qendra, Elle Thorkveld

Some of the contributors change their art every month, most are on a two month refreshing cycle.

by MBeatrix

The story begun in this graphic page can be found in its entirety on Tumblr. Since then, the creator has completed another enjoyable graphic read set in Innsmouth in SL. The Index can be found here.

by Amy Inawe, Klaus

An essay is notecarded in the piece on the right.

by Pixel Crescendo

Some of the pieces can be purchased, or copies picked up for 0L.

by Myra Wildmist

The piece by Myra, in the left of the photo above, changes appearance from different angles and in different lights.

by Seraphim Placebo

At the adjoining parcel, Wanderlust Cafe, there are 3D pieces in the courtyard from private collections as well as art by Wanderlust Bench members.

by Giselle Seeker

Giselle’s work is located on the ground floor of the gallery.

by serra Qendra

And serra has an installation inside the cafe.

Visitors are welcome any time.
