This past week I’ve enjoyed several explorations at The Haze by Silas Merlin and CK Ballyhoo. At the landing there is a signpost indicating the direction to the installation. You can pick up a map and The Haze Torch. It’s recommended to keep the windlight, which I did. These photos are cropped only, except for a few I also softened a little.

“A collaboration between Silas, CK and Cybele, incorporating mesh sculptures, sketches, paintings, textures and storytelling to create a sim wide experience.”

Cybele Moon recorded the story by CK and you can hear her lovely voice whispering as you wander the sim. You can hear the chapters when you are near the small, round story signs. (Have sounds enabled.) Clicking on the signs, you can collect the chapters. You can also read the story on CK’s blog post here.

“There are additional stories in the other round signs, giving a bit more depth to certain Haze characters.”

The sign post at the landing also has teleports to a souvenir shop and to CK’s Gallery which has a personal collection of work by SL artists. The souvenir shop offers work by CK and Silas, including some of the builds seen in the installation.

After wandering around the village, you can ride a Petrified Dragon to fly further up for some wonderful views. Touch the Dragon rezzer, turn off your AO, sit on the invisiprim on the Dragon’s back  and type “start” in local. Avatar flying is allowed too.

There is more color in some places in the sim wide installation.

The Haze is located at Storybrooke which is adult rated.

It’s rewarding to explore all the nooks and crannies of the buildings.

Silas made the suggestion to CK to use his new builds and sketches to form a story.

More from the invitation notecard:  “Darker than anything they’ve either done before, the story turned into a nightmare. A nightmare for Elle, the main character who you may know from the previous stories and installations ‘A Watercolour Wander’ and ‘The Forest Beyond’.

Using Silas’s new digital sketches and the ruins and creatures he has created, a world started to form. Slowly the scenes that would play part in the little girl’s nightmare came to life. Dream Trees were added to show the inspirational sketches. And, in the way that makes a co-production so amazing, the story led to new builds, characters, sketches and paintings to be created by Silas and CK!”

There is a Flickr group for photos taken here.

Recently I made time to enjoy visiting Niamh’s Journey of Dreams with a friend. The installation is a collaboration between CeaKay Ballyhoo and Cybele Moon.

There’s information at the landing, including windlight recommendations. I chose region settings on the Lab viewer and we set out on the path. The landscape is a 3 dimensional watercolor by CeaKay Ballyhoo inspired by the photography and a story by Cybele Moon

The storyboards show a photo which inspired the landscape near it. You can click on it to get a notecard for easier reading. They are numbered, up to 23.

There are several portals to click on during the journey through the installation.

I was intrigued by the texture of the water and delighted to find that the bluebells could be purchased from a little shop at the end of the journey.

I enjoyed the views in every direction with the light settings on the Lab viewer. The planning for all the segments of art to follow the story flowing around the sim is very well done.

For links to other blogs about Niamh’s Journey of Dreams see CeaKay Ballyhoo’s blog.

For Cybele’s wonderful storytelling, see Tales of the Tuatha.

Another personal favorite of the landscaping is this wall with window.

I believe the installation is up through June. It’s a wonderful example of what can be done in virtual worlds.

London

May 27, 1850

The wind had finally settled down about mid-morning after keeping Wren awake most of the night with howling and the flinging of small pieces of debris against the windows of the tiny flat above the tavern.

Today she would venture outside after having kept to her quarters for most of two weeks except for forays downstairs to check on the staff, receive supplies and for meals and a bit of company.

She’d felt a bone-weary, soul-numbing fatigue and had waited it out–just a cycle such as occurs in the natural world. There were some moments when she’d wondered if she’d been poisoned, but she wasn’t important enough for that. She’d also considered whether she’d acquired the affliction that had been spreading around London for several years now, but the familiarity of her extreme languor and irritability called for dismissal of that possibility.

It was more than simple melancholy; she’d paced the floors, slept a lot, gazed out the windows and avoided her scrying ball and cards.

Today would be the day to coax and push herself back out into the bustling city even though she didn’t feel quite ready–in fact, she had a sinking feeling of dismay in her solar plexus.

Without a mental list of things to do or any plan at all really, she cautiously opened the tavern door and stepped out into the street. The air was damp and sooty; she was drawn immediately to the gentle and patient eyes of a horse attached to a nearby carriage. The driver was in the tavern having a quick pint; Wren whispered in the horse’s ear and scratched around his head–a perfect beginning to re-entry into the world.

Insilico North sim

2080

I’ve been given medical clearance to do some traveling. I’m adjusting to the implant well enough and feel like getting out of Insilico North for awhile. I’m keeping my room and booked a round-trip day flight to a place called Bonifacio. I’m not sure of the timeline and saw nothing indicating the date.  I was the only one there.

Nexus Prime ~ Bonifacio

I felt comfortable even though no one else was around.

I’m not scientifically minded but I’ve heard of Tesla.

A tribute to Tesla

I was unable to get into the building but I lingered as the place is quite a bit cleaner that the city where the data jack was implanted into my head. I didn’t really want to return but I was getting hungry and sleepy.

It’s been a relief not to be around dangerous situations but the hyper-vigilance remains. The conditioning of my nervous system is unfortunate but this is what I have to work with.

Arriving in County of Coventry

Refusing to accept conditions, Wren packed her belongings including her dagger and the coins she’d saved from gathering items for the old woman and her tips from working in the tavern. Finding passage on a small ship, she traveled to what was called the County of Coventry.

Sitting In The Square And Getting A Feel Of The Place

Wren was relieved to see what appeared to be a thriving economy and a sense of cleanliness and order.

With her practical skills, there might be places that could employ her.

Healing Places

Seamstress Shop

She wanders about the city, looking at the candle shop, Alchemists, butcher shop and the Great Hall.

As she looks about the area she meets a Knight who is courteous and asks if she needs assistance.

[13:40] “I am tending to my yard right now, but feel free to look around. The Countess of our lands lives yonder.” (pointing to the neighboring house)

Wren meets the Countess and has a brief and cordial conversation.

“I am Lady Dulci, the countess of these lands. And truly, we do try to be hospitable and as safe as can be here.”

Wren had made an inspection of the Inn earlier and is surprised and pleased when she’s encouraged to stay there a few nights in order to get a feel for Coventry. She considers this, although she wants to continue with her travels having lost a great deal of trust during the last few months.

After another meal and a rest by a stream she continues her touring of the land, enjoying a walk in the nearby woods. Feeling quite at home in the outdoors, she’s easily able to run from the wild animals she encounters.

She returns to the Inn and makes arrangements to stay a few nights.
