The weekend has just about arrived and I’m still wearing the outfit I’ve had on for over a week. Here are some photos where I’m wearing it in four of my favorite places, including The Far Away.

H220

This photo was taken inside the old lighthouse at H220. The outfit is Joanie in Plum by KaliKo. It was given to me as a gift by my role play housemate in Wendigo Lake, Kaliope Karas, last winter. It can be worn for Old West, Victorian or Steampunk RP. Or if you’re like me, worn anywhere you damn well please.

lost town

Here, I’m wearing the outfit in Lost Town.

Last December I wore Kali’s finely detailed Caroline Blue Dress in a blog post about Hungry Ghosts.

june.3_003

This last photo was taken on Serenity Falls Island which is undergoing a change of purpose now. I’m keeping an eye on that.

The detailing on both outfits is exquisite but you’ll need to click on the marketplace link to see that better if you’re accustomed to fashion blogs with up close, clear photos.

I find this sort of room very appealing. My roots in the Legacies 1891 role play community caused me to seek out some of the shops that sponsor and participate in the World Goth Fair. Information can easily be found about this event which runs through June 1st.

world goth fair_12Some brands creatively set up shop in The Looking Glass’s Theater building.

world goth fair_13This reminds me of an old painting.

world goth fair_14There’s fabulous architecture to be seen.

world goth fair_15You don’t have to be a Goth to find something of value in a visit.

edit– griefing attacks on the mainland, a few things that can be done: change land permission for no building or dropping of objects, the individual can be banned but is quite willing and able to make numerous accounts. Unfortunately with all the abandoned land on the mainland, there is still the ongoing problem right now. But it could be much worse; we could be like the griefer. 🙂

The World Goth Fair is a great place to take pictures as well as to shop and also support a worthy cause. Information about the event which runs through June 1st is easily found.

world goth fair_06This is my second year attending the World Goth Fair in Second Life. This year too, there are beautiful scenes to photograph and these posts are mostly of that. The Fair runs through June first. There’s plenty of information on the background and shopping stuff elsewhere. Not only is this a wonderful cause to support but this year, like last, I found an outfit and also some home decor that fits my needs and taste perfectly even though Goth isn’t my style.

While I was there it wasn’t too laggy and I enjoyed my time there. I didn’t use the region default light; I used sunset on the Lab viewer.

The Temple of Portunus in Second Life is a recreation of a real life historic site in Rome. It’s shown in the left foreground of the above photo.

a_03There are lovely hangout areas nearby.

a_01The destination includes a small fashion and art store in the temple. The landing area, shown above has a group joiner and other info.

Eve Doll_005

No, I haven’t been possessed by a fashion blogger. I’m still me and still considering becoming a bird.  I was going to take a day off from posting today. Yesterday afternoon my alt logged in, the one who intends to learn to make stuff but gets distracted. So the alt is in these groups and got a notecard and LM about the new generation of avatars.

Eve Doll_004

I went to check it out at the store location and was favorably impressed by the way I was greeted and with the customer service. I decided to thank the creators with a brief post with a link to the Magic Worlds Studio blog post about the Eve avatar.

Eve Doll_003Nana Saenz in the gold dress was assisting customers and called Pierre Ceriano to answer a few questions.

My alt prefers to be treated well, as do I and Mr. Ceriano was kind, helpful and professional.  If you’re interested in blogging the Eve avatar, you can contact him for information, but please be patient and give him the time he needs to respond.

hula_012

As I mentioned yesterday, I enjoyed taking photos on the Camomile sim. There are a lot of shops and it’s also an attractive place.

hula_013Some of the shops are Japanese. There’s wildlife around and some of the animals have wandered inside. One shop has large desserts which are actually furniture.

hula_014I was there so long that the light changed. It was night for part of the time and it was interesting how my skin looked a lot darker when it was night. I thought it looked great with my leis.

hula_016Flying isn’t allowed on most of the sim but it is at the Charmed store where I got my plumeria accessories. There’s a pretty hangout place on the roof you can fly to.

I didn’t take the time to fit the headband to my wild Tantrum hair from Analog Dog. And I’m fine with it.

hula_015

Here I’m sitting on the roof of Charmed in my plumeria flowers. I got on the trail of them after seeing a headband in a photo while scrolling quickly through the blog feeds.  I bought these from the marketplace and then logged in to unpack them and explore the store while I was watching the live stream of the Merrie Monarch hula competition late at night.

It’s on from about 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. my time and I look forward to and watch it for three nights every year since the stream has been available. Technology can be wonderful sometimes.

hula_001

I wandered around the Camomile sim that this shop was on while the hula festival was streaming on the laptop that has audio but doesn’t play SL in any way I can tolerate. This sim was a new place for me although I’ve heard of some of the shops. It’s pleasant to my eye and I took photos which I want to show soon.

And I’ll likely keep my plumeria flowers on for some time. 🙂

It’s a good idea. And when you lose your balance or have a meltdown, you can remember to do what you can to take good care of yourself.   art dummy_02

Some of the pleasant places to visit in Second Life are around stores. I’ve been to several lately including here at Art Dummy. The store itself looks great as does their stuff. When I checked a few of the items scattered around the hangout area, many seemed to be made by other brands and that’s the sort of appreciation I like to see.  art dummy_03

I don’t remember why I went here but I stayed for a while.art dummy_04

There’s plenty of light and space and no jarring colors or shapes.art dummy_05I hope all my readers have a wonderful weekend. I’ll be inworld a while to attend to some things but my priority screen time will be watching the annual Merrie Monarch hula competition which is streamed live from the Big Island.

Frisland, Photos, shopping, virtual destinations

Frisland_001I’ve looked at most of the new showcase places listed in the destination guide and Frisland is one of my favorites. There’s always people around and some are in these photos. So far everyone has been either friendly or minding their own business.

Frisland_003SLurls aren’t working for me this weekend; not from other blogs or the destination guide so I’m not providing one here.

Frisland_005 There are homes and other buildings to explore. When you first arrive, there are sim rules that need to be read. I used region settings on the Lab viewer and lightened the exposure on my pics.

Frisland_006 It’s a place that some newbies arrive at to edit appearance and such.

Frisland_008There’s a beach. There are small boats and you can get a bike to ride. I climbed to the top of the build and believe I’ve looked at most all there is to see. Most views are great for photography.

Frisland_009It’s been open for a while and there have always been others around at all hours of my day or night. It should be easy to find in Search or the destination guide if SLurls and teleporting are working for you at this time.

Earlier I tried a SLurl to a shopping event I picked up from one of the blogs. Eventually I had to wade through listings in Search and when I finally arrived I found a very disorganized mess. Huge rooms with teensy displays of products. Perhaps some of these events are not for the general public or are for people who spend most of their time shopping and have developed skills and acquired insider info. When I realized I have plenty of stuff in inventory I don’t use already, I came to my senses and decided to use my mind and detective skills for real life stuff.

So, it’s good that I can be content to just sit and take photos, wearing the same outfit for weeks when I’m logged on.
