Cozy Vibes Forest Park, Montlaur, Route 8C, Satori

Cozy Vibes Forest Park is a new mainland public destination less than a month old.

The park is located In Montlaur, just off Route 8C, on Satori.

The 2432 sq m parcel is very close to Last Drop Cafe in Montlaur, and to another pretty park, Birdies Nest, which has just been constructed, and at this point appears to welcome visitors.

An abundance of seating, and spaces for dancing are available. A group can be joined for announcements of events.

For those who enjoy mainland sunsets.

A delightful place to spend some ending-of-summer time, for those of us in the  Northern Hemisphere, is Red’s Mystery Shack. Just off Route 8 in Nagarjuna, on the continent of Satori, it’s an imaginative sim for travelers to hang out.

There’s a lot here, but even with my poor internet connection and low-end laptop, the textures loaded and I was able to move around. The parcel is rated Moderate and there is a 60 minute autoreturn.

“Thank you SO so much for visiting the Shack!

I built the shack as an homage to the roadside attractions I’ve visited over the years. Normally much less mysterious and much more “tourist trap”, these places still always held a certain charm and novelty for me. I hope you feel the same! Please feel free to make yourself at home, go for a swim, do some fishing, even just sit and enjoy the atmosphere. If you take any pics, feel free to share on on our flickr. ”

“Souvenirs are available in the shop for super cheap. My effort at some of the silly little gifts that you can buy at these attractions either as a memento or as something to take home to a loved one. If you are interested in a souvenir and unable to afford one, drop me a line and I would be happy to send it to you. The price isn’t about making money to me–just a way for people to say they “bought” a souvenir.”

“I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the donations people have provided. Every linden goes toward the 35USD a month land use fee for the Shack. But please know that, donation or not, what means the most to me is that people enjoy what I have created (and continue to work on) for them.”

❤ Willow

From the Land Description: “Experience the Mystery of the Shack! Gravity Defying, Mysterious, Amazing! Stop by our One-Stop for a souvenir, a snack, or to top off your fuel. NTBI, GFS, RoxOil, gtfo,7 seas, fishing, weird, roadside, tourist trap.”

I enjoyed the nature sounds; crickets, birds and such added to an amusing, immersive experience.

mainland, Route 8, Satori

Like many other parts of the mainland, Route 8 has had many changes along the road during the last few months. I happened upon this stretch of highway after visiting a dystopian sim with a friend. We’d seen photos on Flickr, teleported in to explore, and then noticed on the world map that it was on the continent of Satori. We decided to see if we could walk across abandoned land to the road; yes, we could.

There is always a gentle rain on the 512 parcel shown in the photo above, just off Route 8 in Granville.

It soon became apparent that this part of Route 8 has many places welcoming to the public although there are private homes too. I saw a gacha resale and several service stations.

Shown above is Mustang Trading Post, Maplegrove.

Shown above, the Garden Cafe “Familia Loca”, in Milaniovic. There’s a bicycle rezzer near the road.

There’s also a bike rezzer at Yankee Truck Stop in Zvjaginsev.

A 256 sq m parcel in Ibranic, #BardDesire#, is open to the public.

There are facilities on a tiny parcel in Nagarjuna; it’s actually a prim farm. I first wanted to do this post because of an interesting place across the road that had film and photography sets. It’s now under construction by the same owner.

We’re ending today at Red’s Mystery Shack.  It’s an interesting place with a group joiner for The Drivers of SL. I have a few photos taken here for another post.

Here are photos snapped yesterday at Wyrd Watchtower on the continent of Satori.

“A gallery based on the saying that one picture is worth a thousand words. I used one picture to decorate many surfaces.”

Wyrd Watchtower is owned by Veyot and has housed several projects.

The teleporter will take you to outdoor seating on the roof.

There are other interesting public spaces in the area as well.

The Wanderlust Art Truck made its 10th stop about two weeks ago, this time at Sunset Garden in Wyrd. The welcome area is at nearby Wyrd Watchtower.  The exhibit will be available for about another week or so.

Each exhibit on the tour, which has included parcels on four continents plus Caledon, has been unique. This Sunset Garden location has been partially curated by the project creators, myself and Klaus Bereznyak. Additional pieces have been added by creative friends of the host, Veyot.

Marcus VanDouser made a Youtube video of the grand opening called Wanderlust.

There’s a Flickr group, Wanderlust Art Truck Fans, just created; you’re welcome to add your snapshots of yourself at this location.

There are other things to check out in the area, the previously mentioned Wyrd Watchtower, Saul’s Place Cafe and Library of Landmarks. Sojourners Ground is down the road in Erzulie. Wyrd and Erzulie are on Route 8B on Satori.

There will be at least one more stop for Wanderlust Art Truck before it retires.

Between now and the end of the year, the very new Library of Landmarks, :: L [o] L :: is accepting donations; donors will have their name placed on a Patron Plaque. Located in Wyrd on the continent of Satori, the library has been a dream of Saul Goodie’s for a while and just recently seemed to spring up in a brief amount of time.

Of course, donations will always be appreciated after that; the Patron Plaque deadline is the end of the year.

From the information notecard:

“Thank you for visiting the Library of Landmarks, a public project created and curated by Saul Goodie. The mission of this library is to collect, organize and feature quality locations from across the Second Life grid.

Please enjoy the selection of Landmarks; each category has 4 featured landmarks with quick links – simply use the map to teleport! Click the FOLDER button to receive a folder of Landmarks related to the category of your choosing.”

l-o-l-3

“If you feel you have a Location worth admitting to the Library, please attach the Landmark to a notecard with an explanation and drop in the Suggestion Box on the Library Front Desk. We encourage submissions of all types, even if they do not fit the displayed categories.

You can also use the Suggestion Box on the Library Front Desk to: recommend new categories, report dead or inactive landmarks, request feature spot highlight, or request landmark removal, and misc. questions.”

Along the roadside on  Route 8B in Erzulie on the continent of Satori are some wooded areas. Sojourner’s Ground is a peaceful rest area and retreat. There’s a campsite among the white birch trees.sojourners_003

“We should find countless intermediaries between reality and symbols if we gave things all the movements they suggest.” (Gaston Bachelard)

sojourners_017

Erzulie is the Vodou Lwa of love and women. There’s a diverse range of information about her online. An altar focusing on healing and positive aspects to honor her has been placed on the land.

There’s a water feature and pool which is a lovely place for sunrises.sojourners_014

Sojourner’s Grove has a small orchard of lemon and orange trees.

“Lift up your faces, you have a piercing need
For this bright morning dawning for you.
History, despite its wrenching pain,
Cannot be unlived, but if faced
With courage need not be lived again. ”
~ Maya Angelou

sojourners_010

There are benches outside the orangery for watching sunsets. Fortunately the new neighbor, in the spirit of respecting the surrounding area, has planted wildflowers and provided more seating, leaving the view unobstructed.

When even more chilling is needed, there’s a sky pool with underwater seating accessed via teleporter which isn’t too difficult to find.
