mechanical circus_015It’s the last day to visit Mechanical Circus. These photos have been exposure adjusted and some are cropped. Region setting selected and draw distance ignored. They were taken before I picked up the gift avatar so any figures are all part of the installation, such as the one in the last shot.

This is also the last day of the Home Show where I got the Toronto Arts and Crafts set that I really like.

mechanical circus_013This might be difficult to understand but the blogger, riverpearl, and myself–the avatar Pearl Grey–are in negotiations about changes to this blog and how we spend our time in Second Life once again. We are not in agreement. Readers paying close attention may notice that the writing here is coming from different points of view at times. Of course we are very close but there really are some differences.

mechanical circus_016I do believe I’ll be writing a little about this in the near future which may not be of interest to all but is valid in the journey of a Second Life avatar. Of course the typist who owns the laptop, pays the bills and has a human life to live gets the final say but I am more likely to be having this blog reflect more of my life. We are sorting it out.

mechanical circus_017Please….you can laugh or roll your eyes but don’t even mention intervention.

mechanical circus_019And so goes yet another ephemeral scene in Second Life. There are troubles to be sure but with all the amazing creativity in the world, virtual reality will go on in some form or another. There’s always something wonderful to explore just around the bend.

It was certainly high time I took a much needed vacation. All the shopping, rearranging the furniture in my home to make way for new things, training the three dogs, photography and the exploration and reporting on various places had taken a toll.

Where to go? After my experiences in Bed Bug Hotel I wanted to be careful choosing a place that wouldn’t traumatize me with critters.

When I heard that the Calas Galadhon park system would be on hiatus from August to September and that four of the thirteen areas would be gone I knew I wanted to spend some relaxing time saying goodbye.

My first stop was Eryn Vorn where I soaked up the peace and serenity of the area. I left the dogs with someone and didn’t fret about my hair and such.

Listening to birds and enjoying the cool sea breezes.

Thinking of nothing near the fire as it got cooler later on.

It was a restorative time and I put all worries out of my mind as I watched the stars come out.

lassitude and ennui_04

Recently I enjoyed exploring a place called Lassitude and Ennui. It began when I couldn’t find proper shoes in my inventory for my shorter Art Deco party dresses–I’d been wearing Victorian boots with the longer styles–and I turned to the shoe shopping category in the destination guide.

There are several shops nearby, some kind of oddly mixed with the theme, but also lovely sea views, a grove of trees with ruins and some architectural details which I admire.

The photo above is the sort of image I love. There’s a canoe in the pond in back of this building where your avatar can have a Lady of Shalott-type pose. I’m still wearing the Victorian boots–I quickly became distracted from shopping.

Nothing was post-processed in this picture except for an added frame. I’ve been seeing a lot of these trees around SL and really like the look. lassitude and ennui_05

This is the Lassitude and Ennui building. It isn’t raining there; I added this water texture in picmonkey as an experiment.lassitude and ennui_01

Tableau_3_1This is my final post of Tableau photos.

Pearl is usually open-minded about creating the future.

It was fun playing tourist.

I wonder why I haven’t noticed more fashion bloggers using Tableau as a setting.

When you visit, be careful to follow the caution signs or you may find yourself in an environment like this. This is a raw shot with a frame added.
Tableau_3_6There were interesting dances and since no one else was around, Pearl played on the stage. And so went her visit to Tableau.

Sometimes residents are too busy to go into SL and enjoy the beautiful places they’ve created so they open them to visitors for a while. Recently in one of the blogs here I found such a notice. I’m not sure if this skybox is still available to the public.

I enjoy birdsong in both lives and here was a lovely spot to hear it.everydaydream_3everydaydream_4

There were some pin up poses that I had fun with. The medieval clothes with glitch pants aren’t the best choice for the effect but I wasn’t motivated to change. everydaydream_5everydaydream_62/24/13 edit:

Jasmine at Usually Blonde has just commented that the area is still open to the public. Her blog post has the SLURL and more information.

Information about the sim, the process used, the donation boxes to help with the tier, the horses and train that can be ridden and places to hang out.

I love Impressionist art and having my avatar, Pearl, wander around a virtual Arles.

My Visit to Alirium

This is where Pearl is sitting right now, having a rest and some tea as she has a conversation with those little birds, while her typist writes this post. There are three other residents on the sim with her; I looked at their profiles and I doubt they’ll bother her.

I found Alirium because of at least two blog posts here and the most recent one provided a SLurl so it was easy to teleport.  I’m faithless enough that I don’t provide SLurls. Too many sims have vanished for me too quickly. For example, recently I’ve enjoyed taking photos in a design set that the designer made available for models to use but it is, perhaps only temporarily, gone.

Pearl is visiting with a rainbow lizard.

I’m not sure what Pearl is standing in but her typist is made miserable by goldenrod pollen.

This was a cute little place to hang out in but I liked the outdoors better.

With the sun on region settings, Pearl was soon bathed in different lighting as her typist multi-tasked.

Restricted area? Of course I had to enter!

Soylent Green was the worst I found there.

High up in the sky were fireworks and some encouraging words. Yes, I really liked the sim but there were almost no other residents around.
