Au Contraire My Darlings is the current exhibit at Montara Bridge Works Gallery in Sansara. The art includes mixed media watercolor, pencil drawings, digital art, and digital photography.

“The woman or man you’re becoming will cost you people, relationships, spaces, and material things. Choose her or him over everything.” ~ Unknown

The exhibit by Pearl Grey — that’s me! — runs through the end of August.

Near the gallery landing is a teleport down to the beach below where the public is welcome. There are places to read, life preservers for splashing around in the water, a meditation pillow, and pods go by in both directions, both on the water and on the Hooper Bridge above.

The parcel is a 512 sq m piece of Mainalnd.

Armageddon in the Biosphere by Melodie Heart and Eriko Lecker

Ecoscape is an environmental art project at InterstellART. Opened in March 2019, it displays 3D installations by various artist contributors in a desert setting.

The Tree Hugger Trail by Asmita Duranjaya

New installations replace some previous ones at intervals. The Tree Hugger Trail is de-rezzed at the current time, A notecard with info and pictures can be obtained. All installations will be included in a book that can be purchased for 0L and worn as a HUD.

The book can be obtained at the info area. The large pages exhibited, display an introduction, The Early History of Environmental Art, The Emergence of Land Art Installations, Considering the Environmental Impact, Environmental Art as Eco Art, and Contemporary Environmental Artists.

The Disappearance by Lalie Sorbet

There are teleports at the installations, and a glider with instructions can be obtained at the info area. And of course, an avatar can stroll in the sand.

Overpopulaton by June Clavenham

The installation by June Clavenham also has a colorful area expressing a pristine earth.

The Day on the Beach by Kala Kaiuwa Kuveni

The photo above shows one of the scenes that can be rezzed via clicking on a multi-scene changer.

No Ark in Sight by Elle Thorkveld

There are spaces for new installations that are being created now, and return visits are suggested.

Energy is Precious by Claude Belgar

Energy is Precious is an animated piece that is one of the newer installations.

Toxic Threads Inc by Pearl Grey and Klaus Bereznyak

I welcomed the opportunity to collaborate on this project with Klaus. The subject of clothing fibers found in fish, plus other damage from the fast fashion industry had been a topic of discussion between us for some time. Clicking on the posters will give notecards with links to videos with more information about the impact of fast fashion.

How Now Brown Cow by Betty Tureaud

A colorful, methane producing cow.

You Decide by Duna Gant

“This work is a small personal homage to Lucio Munoz (1929 – 1998) Spanish informalist artist who used natural materials such as wood and paper in his works.”

A previous installation titled How to Survive the Time After by Silas Merlin and Asmita Duranjaya can be seen in the book.

InterstellART is owned by Asmita Duranjaya.

BERRIES

seasonal

abundant

accessible to more than
just the lofty ones

pass by
the hard and bitter

pass by
mushy ones with no real substance

savor the moments

The Wanderlust Art Truck made its 10th stop about two weeks ago, this time at Sunset Garden in Wyrd. The welcome area is at nearby Wyrd Watchtower.  The exhibit will be available for about another week or so.

Each exhibit on the tour, which has included parcels on four continents plus Caledon, has been unique. This Sunset Garden location has been partially curated by the project creators, myself and Klaus Bereznyak. Additional pieces have been added by creative friends of the host, Veyot.

Marcus VanDouser made a Youtube video of the grand opening called Wanderlust.

There’s a Flickr group, Wanderlust Art Truck Fans, just created; you’re welcome to add your snapshots of yourself at this location.

There are other things to check out in the area, the previously mentioned Wyrd Watchtower, Saul’s Place Cafe and Library of Landmarks. Sojourners Ground is down the road in Erzulie. Wyrd and Erzulie are on Route 8B on Satori.

There will be at least one more stop for Wanderlust Art Truck before it retires.

Pockets of Light, ten photographs and ten poems are on display at Wanderlust Cafe in Quentin now through October. Most are on the ground level with the outdoor cafe seating; several are on the rooftop of the cafe accessed by outside stairs.

The project began in the spring of this year, the photos done first, of images taken in Second Life during moments of reflection on peace and sustainability for a just future in the real world.

The beautiful, thoughtful poems, one for each photograph were written during the summer.

Real
====

This surface this lattice of molecules
Will not betray you
This matter cannot go back on its word
This is the truth that doesn’t need defending
A geometry not up for discussion
And the mundane manipulation
Of things in space
Taking cutlery from the drawer
Or hanging a picture in place
These cannot be faked
Against such, even the spoken breaks
Start here and stay until you know
Your skin is the same stuff
Caress for instruction
How you carry it and
Where it goes
Is beyond dispute
Not one day has the ground
To your feet proved false
Unless too long at sea
You forgot all else

(KB – June 2017)

In a Mist
****

In a living mist
Spilling up the valley
As far as the fence line
Comes the sweet bitter of
Pine needles, sycamore and
Poplar leaves turning

Infused by the lungful
This aromatic vapor bearing
Extracts of memories
Flung spray, blown spume, sea-gulls crying
Asks no permission but
Is gentle

Below the stone house
In the orange orchard
Through the ruined arch
Lays eiderdown on wildflower
Carpeted meadows in milklight
Red points and yellow splashes

Watercolors out the scratches
In three primary
Colors of green
Holds a shushing finger up
To time and
Stills it

Some Current Art Exhibits in Second Life

Gallery 23, interstellART, Klaus, La Maison d'Aneli, Melusina Parkin, Montara Bridge Works Gallery, Nitroglobus Roof Gallery, Pearl Grey, Pepper Chaffe, Second Life, virtual art, Virtual Chelsea Hotel, Vonniethefox, Wintergeist

Early last week I viewed several current gallery exhibits which I’m going to share the landmarks to so you can enjoy them as well. At Gallery 23 at Virtual Chelsea Hotel six artists are showing work through August. On the left in the photo above is shown work by Pepper Chaffe. On the right are Decayed Maps by Klaus. Other exhibitors are Jim Garand, Gjo Bing, Pi and John B.

At La Maison d’Aneli in Virtual Holland through August are works by Kicca Igaly, Red Bikcin, Vonniethefox, Terra Merhyem and Rage Darkstone. The photo above shows art by Vonniethefox with a glimpse of Kicca Igaly’s in the background to the right.

The colorful pieces by Vonniethefox are animated and I find them delightful.

‘Absences’, a photo exhibit by Melusina Parkin is at Nitroglobus Roof Gallery. The sculptures are by Nitro Fireguard.

You can pick up an intro notecard written by Melusina which begins in part: “Absence is a negative concept: it means that something should be there and it doesn’t. So, when we look at an empty place – a room, a seashore, a road or even a chair – we can’t avoid thinking of something or somebody who has been or will be there. That’s even more true when a world, including nature and landscape, is entirely made by humans, like Second Life does.”

At the AiR Gallery of InterstellART is Pieces of a Whole by Wintergeist. There are colorful pieces exhibiting too, not shown in my photo above.

Last but not least in my mind, are six of my works (plus blackboard texture) at Montara Bridge Works Gallery. Expressing different moods and strategies of my First and Second Lives during this summer, the exhibit is titled ‘Subtle Maneuvers’ inspired by a line in a letter Franz Kafka wrote in 1912: “Time is short, my strength is limited, the office is a horror, the apartment is noisy and if a pleasant, straightforward life is not possible then one must try to wiggle through by subtle maneuvers.”

With the Living

The graphic narrative exhibit, With the Living, will continue on past the original closing date.

Written by Klaus Bereznyak and illustrated by myself, (SL photos edited in software), the story is based loosely on a soldier returning from the Crimea.

There was an opening event and we were very pleased that the work viewed with interest and discussed with intelligent questions asked.

Most of the photos were taken at Binemust, which has a wonderful variety of scenes that worked for this narrative.

It was an enjoyable collaboration and learning experience. Klaus made a book out of it and I filmed a slideshow. There are gifts available at the exhibit.

With the Living might best be viewed on night setting.

While looking through the destination guide I was a little surprised to see that some frightful places that I looked at last Halloween are available year round. This place is Dark Dharma Haunted Manor. It was nice to be the only resident exploring when I went and I always like to see what folks have done with the Hackberry Hall house.

In this particular picture I was experimenting with the new “Clouds” textures in picmonkey. “Water” is a new texture set with the basic free set-up and “Clouds” is with subscription only. Most of the photos I’ve experimented on don’t look quite right to me but I really love how the above picture turned out.     haunted_01Pearl took a nap while I was working in another window. She didn’t do any of the hunt or game things, just looked around. Later while she was wandering around in the backyard I wasn’t watching out for her and she was “killed” and teleported home.

This visit happened before she got her three dogs.

Tableau_3_1This is my final post of Tableau photos.

Pearl is usually open-minded about creating the future.

It was fun playing tourist.
Tableau_3_4

I wonder why I haven’t noticed more fashion bloggers using Tableau as a setting.
Tableau_3_5

When you visit, be careful to follow the caution signs or you may find yourself in an environment like this. This is a raw shot with a frame added.
Tableau_3_6There were interesting dances and since no one else was around, Pearl played on the stage. And so went her visit to Tableau.
