Cybele Moon, Lizzie Gudkov, LnL Square, nature, photography, virtual destinations

I recently got notice that writer, photographer and blogger friend, Cybele Moon, is having her first photo exhibit in Second Life and of course I wanted to see it, even though I enjoy her photography on her blog. She was in SL for a time and real life has been too compelling for her to spend much time there now. Her fellow writer, Lizzie Gudkov, has exhibition space in LnL Square tower where the photos can be seen.

The exhibit is on two floors. Cybele offered me a choice of a gift picture and I chose Misty Evening, which is shown on the exhibit info display in the first picture posted here. It rather resembles my interior landscape. 🙂

cm_003Outside of the tower is a courtyard for hanging out.

cm_005I noticed a teleport to a Japanese Garden near the landing which I hadn’t seen on my last visit so I went there to rest and have some tea.

When I visit a place I like to teleport to a nearby road and explore the area. Usually the place I’ve just been is on the ground. But LnL Square is high up in Borgatti and I fell a long, long way to the road. I soon discovered I was on Route 12 in Nautilus. I’ll post some photos of route 12 on Thursday. Tomorrow I have a post about a virtual photography exhibit for this blog.

The Far Away_001

One of the first landmarks I was given was to A M Radio’s The Far Away. I’m so pleased that it’s still available to us. There’s something inspiring about the wheat fields that invites my imagination to play. 🙂

I’ve been keeping an eye on the Gulf of Lune, the salt marshes that are part of the Calas Galadhon park system. I’m pleased that the sim is all right for the month of May. While the rest of the park sims are lovely, the Gulf of Lune is unique and so I’m surprised when it lags behind in donations compared to the other sims.

Calas is depending on donations to help keep the park open. There are break down reports of how the sims are doing and the Gulf was second to last for much of the month. As of a few days ago it had reached only 24% of the goal. Of course things don’t stay forever, but every month it’s still here gives a chance for new residents to see the virtual gems that it is. The tugboat is gone but otherwise things seem to remain the same for the time being. Enjoy the photos from this month.

it starts with a smile_012

When I made several visits to It All Starts With a Smile, I took a lot of pictures and it wasn’t easy to pick my favorites for this eventual post. While all the views were lovely, my favorite things were the cats and little pigs.

it starts with a smile_010

Most of my visits were weeks ago when spring in real life was less evident. I found the build to be relaxing as well as inspiring for dreaming about creative activities.it starts with a smile_018I believe I used the region setting on the Lab viewer. My intention is way more to encourage you to slow down and explore for yourself than to have accurate footnote-like facts. it starts with a smile_019 There’s a lot to see and indeed it took several visits for me to feel like I hadn’t missed anything.it starts with a smile_007And one thought I’d like to add: There’s need and place in the world for intellectual prowess and tactical strategies but heart people are the future.

Goodnight Homestead_005These are photos I took last month at the Goodnight Homestead. It was a peaceful and relaxing place.

Goodnight Homestead_001There’s no SLurl today because the homestead is closed to the public for a rebuild.

Goodnight Homestead_003If this winter season is any indication of the rebuild I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, not only hanging out for a while but also the great views that make photography such a joy.

Goodnight Homestead_006Many residents share their homes and creativity with others, something I love about being inworld.

Mini-Vacation to Belegaer

Calas Galadhon, nature, Sea of Nurnen, virtual destinations

Belegaer_01After saying goodbye to the Bay of Balfalas I next moved on to Belegaer. There I enjoyed some solitude and a cozy retreat on the ship. There’s something about being on the sea that makes food taste better and sleep more delicious as well. That’s if you aren’t troubled by sea-sickness but I get my sea legs rather quickly.

Belegaer_02Below deck I was pleasantly surprised to see furnishings just like some I have in storage.

Belegaer_03The adjoining quarters below deck are quite comfortable. There are maps, reading material and a place to write but my attention was on the feline who is doing a splendid job of keeping the mice away. I wondered how the dogs were getting along at home without me.

Belegaer_04Belegaer will be gone after the Calas Galadhon park system goes on hiatus in August. When it reopens, it will be less four of the thirteen areas. The owners have shared these beautiful places with us and that has been abused by a few. There are donation boxes around the sims for those who can help support and show appreciation.

When I left the ship I moved on to the Sea of Nurnen.

It was certainly high time I took a much needed vacation. All the shopping, rearranging the furniture in my home to make way for new things, training the three dogs, photography and the exploration and reporting on various places had taken a toll.

Where to go? After my experiences in Bed Bug Hotel I wanted to be careful choosing a place that wouldn’t traumatize me with critters.

When I heard that the Calas Galadhon park system would be on hiatus from August to September and that four of the thirteen areas would be gone I knew I wanted to spend some relaxing time saying goodbye.

My first stop was Eryn Vorn where I soaked up the peace and serenity of the area. I left the dogs with someone and didn’t fret about my hair and such.

Listening to birds and enjoying the cool sea breezes.

Thinking of nothing near the fire as it got cooler later on.

It was a restorative time and I put all worries out of my mind as I watched the stars come out.
