Tudor Rose_09

This is the best shot I can get of the outside of the immense, awesome Cathedral at Tudor Rose, a role play sim. I posted photos of the inside on the twelfth. The place is open to visitors, medieval clothing to be worn. Tudor Rose_06I entered some of the buildings. You can’t tell by the picture, but when you move over these lovely items inworld, you’ll find they are for sale.

Tudor Rose_07This is an art gallery. I fell in love with the paintings and have returned, dragging friends with me several times. The work doesn’t appear to be for sale. I did research and found a link to a blog and am going to revisit this and write about it more in depth in the near future.

Tudor Rose_08The castle is massive. I wandered about it thoroughly. It was created by the same person who made the Cathedral and I can’t find the notes I took right now. All these photos were taken on my first visit when I was not wearing medieval clothing.Tudor Rose_10There are some “country” buildings past the woods on the sim. I’ve joined the group although it isn’t the sort of set up I’m used to with residences and such. Notifications are sent out on the day something happened in the 1500’s as though it were happening in real time. There are events and it doesn’t seem to require a lot of time to be involved.

Time is something I don’t have an abundance of right now but this is a place I want to return to at least a few more times.

Faire_008These are photos from a Faire I visited on a Medieval/Fantasy sim last weekend. I didn’t check out the jousting, hunting or games but I enjoyed looking around.

Faire_003It’s difficult to resist sitting down to a feast.

Faire_007Sometimes I forget that without my LaRPs hud, I’m allowed to fly. Often flying isn’t allowed or appropriate for places I go but I ended up flying here because there’s a lot to see and I’d been falling into the water a lot.

Faire_010Faire_011

This is an active roleplay sim, with the ongoing tension between light and dark. Here I’m lazily resting from my explorations while a kind resident is answering my questions about the roleplay and rules.

The Medieval/Fantasy sim I’d last played in, DarkMoon Isle closed on February 15th because of lack of interest from SL residents. It was one of the most beautiful Medieval builds I’d seen but the owner/builder has real life projects and didn’t seem to be able to justify continuing. I hadn’t been there for about five weeks because I had trouble with someone and didn’t care to make a big deal of it.

Faire_014This photo was taken in the dark part of the realm but I found it to be beautiful. It’s tempting to consider playing here but there are other things I want to do with my SL time for a while and I’m still not up for learning yet another backstory, hud and rules. It’s been disappointing for me and I’m giving myself a break.

Faire_015Since this is an “annual” Faire, the sim might be fairly stable and hopefully will still be around when I once again feel like participating in a Medieval/Fantasy roleplay community.

Pearl wears a Watch uniform

Pearl’s “cousin” is a Sergeant in the Watch; so far it’s just him and a couple of dragons. He really, really is into his job and he had the idea that recruiting women might help. So I was basically asked if I would cross-dress to see how the uniforms would work on female avatars.

I dislike tweaking things constantly but I patiently tried to adjust this unflattering outfit. I got the boots from the Male Fantasy starter avatar that everyone gets in inventory. The kettle helmet had to be resized and moved as did the cuirass. Then the belt on the “skirt” was way too big and lopsided. At one point I was in frozen “change appearance” position while my friend was moving phantom uniform parts on and off me.

My hair has to be removed to wear the helmet. Then I was given a sword with several commands and also received several salute animations. Try as I do to make people understand that I have severe short-term memory problems, I really don’t know how this will work out for my character to be a guard and play with all these  details. Yes, he thinks that would be a great idea. Oh, and my arms disappear at times when I wear the uniform and I don’t care.

For it to be a success having female watch members, I guess it will depend on their skills and patience for adjusting these little details. I’m done with that although I’m game for the roleplay part. My “cousin” just enjoys combat.

I live in half of the building in the background, the side on the right of the photo. The large raven sits on the fountain statue all the time and I can hear it in my room.

Reflection is important but there are things that need doing as well. Sometimes a girl is just walking along in her world, carrying an axe, minding her own business when she sees strange symbols near her path. Does she dare pass them by? If she gazes at them long enough will they divulge their mystery? Should she run like hell? Perhaps the symbols aren’t important.

She’ll likely use the skills and wisdom and courage that she has available and will do her best with that.

My room in the attic. There’s a communal bath tub behind the screen.

Most of the second floor is a common area for dining and sitting.

I’m shuffling things around to find time to join a Medieval role play. It isn’t an historically accurate Medieval roleplay; it’s just that we wear closer to Medieval looking clothing and the furnishings and weapons are way more Medieval than not. My female character is not illiterate and I’ll explain that by saying she fled a convent. Yes she traveled alone to another city, a city that has at least one dragon.

I love the sim build and have quite a few photos of it I haven’t shown here yet. It uses the LaRPs HUD and meter which I like and the sim owners are very kind, reliable and patient so far. I don’t want to get disappointed again so I’m not renting yet.

This will be my home when I begin. One of my buddies will be my cousin and he’s a Watch member; it’s his place. His office is on the first floor. I got to furnish most of the building, needing to keep it all under 150 prims. I find decorating very relaxing and it diminishes my real world compulsive shopping to nest my own home. (I have an interest in quirky art and antiques.)

I have several kinds of foods I can place on the table. There’s a pie on it now. I also have a bowl of apples, a jar of mead and some glasses and a plate of fresh baked bread.

While I was doing the shopping and placing of furnishings on Saturday, the sim builder brought in some foggy weather and it was very beautiful.

I’ve made several attempts to attend BURN2 and my laptop, drivers and/or viewer can’t deal with it.

Maybe it’s because I have too much I want to do right now that made my joining the Darkmoon Isle roleplay sim take longer than I expected. There were glitches with the meter and my trying to fix it got me in deeper. Somehow the typing animation got turned on in my AO and it took me awhile to figure that out.  As of now, I believe I’m set. Both my friend and the sim builder were patient and kind which is much appreciated.

It’s a medieval sim and I’m a peasant so I won’t have to be changing clothes a lot. I’ll mostly be my usual pleasant, friendly character. I just don’t feel like being mean although I’ve certainly had to deal with my exasperated feelings in real life. Many other people are feeling that same way too, I can tell. We’re being called to be more authentic which isn’t popular.

I see light at the end of the tunnel.

The photos were taken at Hobo Island during a visit Sunday evening. I’d been wishing I had building skills and quickly looked at a few areas listed in the destination guide as having resources.

Axe as Fashion Accessory

Pearl acquired this axe.

While exploring the Medieval countryside, Pearl chopped some wood for a family that wasn’t at home. Noticing that there was an ample supply of axes and that hers had become attached, she kept it as a sort of fashion accessory and carried it with her as she journeyed on.

She encountered a 1000 year old Vampire shortly thereafter and found herself explaining that she wasn’t a warrior but was instead simply passing through.

The greatest danger from the axe appears to be to herself as the way she swings it around while walking comes perilously close to splitting her skull open or whacking her thigh. She remains unruffled by that.

She hasn’t been carrying it with her recently but it’s readily available along with her collection of red roses, quill pens, cups of coffee, glasses of red wine, datapads, automatic weapons, books, chickens, balloons and such.

A Lovely Place To Rest ‘n Watch th’ Sea fer Awhile.

Hearty thanks to Tipsy Cerulean’s blog fer pointin’ me in th’ direction ‘o a scurvy pirate tavern fer this day’s message.

Pearl continued to explore Medieval role fight sims yesterday evenin’. She began near th’ County ‘o Coventry ‘n wandered through Isle ‘o Innisfree. She was challenged by some wild animals ‘n saw areas fer joustin’ ‘n sportin’ events. Then she moved on into broadside Runnymede.

Sheep on th’ outskirts ‘o Runnymede.

A Small Chapel fer Medieval Worship.

Pearl finds her way to a large castle which she learns be th’ Shire ‘o Surrey.

These guards let her pass wit’ no trouble.

A Lovely Spot To Take A wee bit ‘o Rest.

She wanders around th’ keep ‘n th’ wee village broadside fer awhile. It was a pleasant journey.

Very Tempting ~ A Little Cottage With Farm Animals

I don’t know if the cottage is occupied. This would be my ideal situation for medieval roleplay.

I stood and listened to the ambient sounds for awhile. It was a pleasant time. There are nearby sims that I plan on visiting soon.
