Dr John, Heterocera, Moon Stew Cafe, Patagonia

Moon Stew Cafe in Patagonia is open and welcoming all the times. For October and November, the establishment is decorated for the season.

“Welcome to Moon Stew Cafe, where we are celebrating the music of Dr. John (1941-2019) through October and November.

Also known as Mac Rebennack, Dr. John was a well-loved, sometime controversial, larger-than-life practitioner of all things New Orleans and, in particular, his gumbo of syncopated piano shuffles.”

“Not unlike Sun Ra, the patron saint of Moon Stew Cafe, Dr. John lived by his own rules and was partial to a flamboyant outfit. When he died in June this year, USA Today described him as ‘a living symbol of New Orleans and its vast musical heritage.’ ”

“There are things to do, so please feel free to immerse.

– The Doctor is on the parcel stream; you might need to toggle it to get it going.

– The two media panels are showing live footage of Dr. John in concert. You’ll need media turned on and then click the panel (sometimes twice) to load the videos.

– Play Boogie Woogie on the piano! If you sit at the piano and click on the decorated panel in front of you, you’ll be amazed at your boogie-woogie powers. Click it again to stop the music.”

“- Get a prescription from the Doctor. Touch the crystal ball on the bar and check local chat to hear from the man in his own words.

– Watch out for alligators!”

“The staff at Moon Stew hope you enjoy the music and feel a little closer to him here.” ~ Klaus

Toasted, a 2D art exhibit by Serra Qendra, is on display in the intimate artist loft gallery at Artlot in Rivulet.

The original installation was exhibited at Burn 2 Equinox 2019. This 2D installation attempts to further abstract and distill the concepts as indicated in the artist statement.

The artist bio is in the sandwich board outside the gallery, and is one of the most interesting bios I’ve read inworld.

Artlot is owned and maintained by Elle Thorkveld and exhibits work by her and other artists in a peaceful nature setting. It changes seasonally.

“The dragonfly symbolizes transformation in the direction of self-realization and living for the moment. Dragonflies flit across the surface of the water, bringing awareness to what lies in its depths. Enjoy watching the dragonflies at our sanctuary pond.”

First, the pavilion appeared in Neumoegen at the former location of Wrong Way Books. Wrong Way Books, owned by Thea Donovan, has moved on to it’s third home, I believe.

The pavilion has a formal, yet welcoming feel. You can leave by the door shown in the left of the photo, and take a very short walk up to Neumoegen Station to catch a train, or a pod on Robin Loop. Or you can walk down the hill a very short way, and catch a pod on Route 1.

About a month ago, the formerly abandoned land next to the pavilion had a pond dug as the beginning of the lovely sanctuary. The trees and wildflowers surrounding the parcel are effective in giving a sense of retreat from the nearby parcels.

The benches and blankets around the pond offer pleasant views and nature sounds.

A cottage that complements the nature area is also on the grounds.

This will conclude the series of infrastructure posts about Route 2 on Heterocera. Route 2 is one of the more interesting mainland roads. I began in Epione on November 5, 2017. The last post was on October 1 of last year, when I arrived at Satellite Market.

The Satellite Market Square Rez Zone has a 2 minute autoreturn. “You can rez your vehicles and goods here.”  When you right click on some of the items in the market, you’ll find you can take a copy, including a 14 Li pink flamingo by Eric Linden.

There are palm trees, as well as the cypress trees shown in the photo above. Bushes and grasses are scattered about the area. Copies of the fence, shown on the left, can be picked up too.

I jumped the fence to look at the train station and benches which are part of the infrastructure. An old copy of Mole Times has been left on one of the benches.

There are some publications in the station, a travel magazine and a Moley Bible.

I jumped back over the fence, then continued walking. There are businesses, and ad signs close to the road. Just before arriving in Snout Point, I snapped a photo of the wall, letterbox and lamp.

The sea is on the left of the road. A picnic bench is on the right.

A little further, another rez zone with a bench, trash can, sign and lamp.

Another convenient rez zone on the road is located near the warning signs.

Finally, we arrive at the end of Route 2, or the beginning, depending on which direction we’re going.

Moving closer to the water, and looking back, these are the steps leading to and from the dock.

There’s a five minute autoreturn.

This completes Route 2 infrastructure on Heterocera. I’ve also posted an infrastructure series of my traveling Route 10 on Jeogeot beginning here.

Route 2 ~ Fillip to Buff Pier

Buff Pier, Fillip, Ginsberg, Heterocera, Route 2, The Atoll

When we left off looking at Route 2 infrastructure here, we were in Fillip. I didn’t seem to cover a lot of road on this trip but there was a lot to photograph. There are builds on both sides of almost the whole length of Route 2 that I traveled; where there is not, there are plenty of trees, bushes, flowers and road signs.

After Fillip, there were one or two steps in Brindle and then I was in Ranunculus. I turned back to snap this photo of the median with alternating street lights by Alberto Linden and palm trees by Eric Linden.

In Seraphim the paving changes and the median ends with a speed bump, foliage and lamps.

In Ginsberg, there’s a Victorian Letter Box set into a retaining wall by Garden Mole. Right now there are numerous, some very large, parcels for sale on the mainland. Unlike in the fairly recent past, there are also many new builds; the roadside in this and other areas I’ve noticed recently are filling in.

Pictured above is a crosswalk in Ginsberg.

In previous posts in this series, I’ve focused on the infrastructure and avoided many of the current buildings in the background but it wasn’t really possible on this trip. Shown above is the Ginsberg Rez Zone.

After a brief walk through Burnott, the paving changes again in Quaker.

Just before the Valerian Rez Zone, there’s a guard rail on the left side of the  road.

The Valerian Rez Zone has the usual bench, trash bin and in addition, a barrel.

Soon I arrived at an intersection with benches and a tree in the middle. The road to the right soon becomes unpaved, leading through some rough terrain among random buildings. I kept going straight ahead on Route 2.

This bridge is in Buff.

Right after the bridge, there’s a retaining wall on the left side of the road.

There is an opening in the retaining wall with steps leading down to Buff Pier.

There are benches on the pier, which stretches out on both sides of the picnic area.

These are plenty of photos so I will continue my travel another day.

Cafe Klaus, Heterocera, Patagonia, Route 1

Just off Route 1 in Patagonia, Cafe Klaus has graced the area for over two years. It has been open 24/7 and has visitors every day.

The land description says it best: “A roadside joint and arts venue on Route 1 in the South Western Heterocera Atoll region. A place to relax with friends in surroundings vaguely evocative of the colonial era, enjoy a morning coffee, a sundowner or cocktails and jazz on the verandah.”

Lester, the cafe cat, is almost always around to greet visitors, if he’s in the mood. For over a year, Sundowners met regularly at 3:30 p.m. SLT.

If you’d like to visit, you need to do so by about Monday 11th, in the evening SLT.

Later in the week, you’re welcome to visit again and see what is new.

Heterocera, Route 2, The Atoll

It was two months ago today that I last posted in my virtual infrastructure series; I ended then in Consular on Route 2 on the Atoll. Continuing on pixel feet, I focused my attention mostly on the road paving, trees and other foliage, rez zones and signs. This is as it was in early May, 2018.

The sea was on the left, rolling hills on the right and the road was gently curving left and right.

I walked through the regions of Huckleberry, Mournful and Hummingbird.

The Hummingbird Rez Zone is a long, narrow strip on the left side of the road in the direction I was walking.

I walked through the regions of Pandorus and Hydrangea. In Hydrangea, the Bridge Road shown on the right above, branches off into a higher road.

Looking back at Bridge Road.

I traveled through the regions of Pandorus, Yucca and Ambrosia. Very soon after entering Yucca the road changed to wooden planks with posts for guard rails on the left. The direction of the planks changed several times.

The Ambrosia Rez Zone is shown in the above photo.

Just a little further on the road became wider again on the right, with wooden guard posts and the old shed by Bloomin Mole.

In time, I arrived at a corner on the coast, the Fillip Rez Zone. On the left of the photo above, a long dock leads down to the sea.

A Pod route is located here; the pod morphs into a boat and sails to the right, which seems the best way to go by sea. It is tricky to rez a small boat and banlines are horrific on both sides of the route to the right. I don’t know how it is to sail to the left.

But we are focusing on the infrastructure of Route 2 and will continue the trip another day, on the road shown in the right of the above photo.

Heterocera, mainland, Second Life, The Atoll

It’s been exactly three months since I left off exploring Route 2 on Heterocera which I posted about here.  In some ways it seems like a very short time ago, in other ways it feels like my human has lived a lifetime since then.

We begin again at the rez zone in Manduca.

Some of these photos will look similar but the route is interesting with signs of life on the left, along the coast. This post is about the infrastructure; so the bench and trash bin by Garden Mole appear here, rather than the mansion on the left.

Still in Manduca, there’s a retaining wall on the right. I like seeing that the land is not jagged and irregularly chopped up like so many areas of the mainland.

The road and retaining wall continue into Modesta. Moving into Girdier, there’s much more vegetation on the right and a rez zone on the left near a Bikers Bar.

The road paving changes for a bridge. There are lamps by Garden Mole along the sides.

Still in Girdier, this space on the right is not a rez zone or pod stop; there’s no bench or trash bin. There are many occupied residences on the left, quite a few with banlines.

Moving into Echo, the paving changes briefly for a raised area in the road.

Still in Echo, there’s a bench where one can stop and enjoy the sea view.  The cave on the left of the photo holds a club; the place on the right is also open to the public.

A rez zone in Echo.

Next you pass through Dahana, then Scoopwing.

An old wood seat by Bloomin Mole just before entering Sedge.

There are several areas with trees and benches on the right where you can pause and view the sea.

Still in Sedge, we turned left to continue Route 2. There is a small park.

The road right is the Inland Cutoff where you would shortly see a pod station if you’re tired of walking or driving.

The rez zone in Oakworm.

The appearance of the road changes while still in Oakworm and on into Consular.

And here is where we end our journey for now, in Consular, where the wood plank road changes back to stone paving.

Heterocera, mainland, Route 2

Continuing my Route 2 journey on Heterocera Atoll near where I left off here, I begin again where the road makes a sharp turn to the left in Emmelia.

Not to much further the Jota Rezzing Area is found on the left of the road.

There are many ferns and shrubs along the road as well as a few barrels and old telegraph poles by Garden Mole. Through Algira there seems to be a lot of ranching and farming going on.

There’s a rest stop on the right in Algira.

A little further on the road begins to hug the coastline more closely. The above photo was taken in Togata.

Bridge in Togata.

The road changes a little further on.

There’s a rez zone in Togata. Pods stop here.

In the photo above, you can see a bench to the right. Perhaps to ponder whether you want to enter the tunnel or not.

The road paving changes again. On the left of the road, more signs warn of deep water.

This is what it looked like above the tunnel.

Entering the tunnel, I found myself in Moma. There were huge spiders. I soon found my self in Tiger when I exited.

There were several lights and a bench along the road.

The wood plank road curves around the land, still in Tiger.

There’s a guardrail made by Bloomin Mole and set up by Garden Mole on the right. Very briefly, I took a few steps in Congrua.

A few steps further on, in Manduca, there’s a rez zone. This shot is looking back the way I just walked.

Until next time.

Heterocera, Linden Department of Public Works, Route 2, The Atoll

Having finished a series of posts focused on the virtual infrastructure of Route 10 in Jeogeot about a month ago, I am resuming on Route 2 in Epione on Heterocera.

I am beginning where Route 2 meets Mock Heather Road. These photos were taken about a month ago so I am checking the route again to make sure that no huge craters or other disasters have happened to make the area unrecognizable.

Moving from Epione to Siona, I discover that the wonderful land that was for sale last month has been sold but there is a security orb.

That is wonderful Drongolia shown in the background.

The bridge looks like this on the road.

Entering Gnoma, I couldn’t help but notice the terrible proliferation of sage grass and disrepair.

I walked through Ridens, Viciae, Albulata and Brithys. The road had fewer sage bushes in some stretches.

I called in map-reading backup here in Brithys where there is a road to the left. (Route 2 veers sharply to the left a little further on.)

A few steps further straight ahead we entered Emmelia with the Emelia Rez Zone on the left.

And to confirm we were going in the right direction.

You can buy the Linden Department of Public Works Manhole Cover for L$0.

A little further on, still in Emmelia, is a bridge.

The bridge from the side.

Many times there are interesting things to see under the LDPW bridges.

Including under water.

It’s just after this bridge that Route 2 turns sharply to the left.
