Cica Ghost, Knitland

“Sometimes I get sad… but then I think about yarn and everything is fine :)” ~ Cica Ghost.

Knitland opened Sunday, April 14 at Dragonash. Near the arrival, instructions for best viewing are posted. I use the LL viewer, and these photos were snapped without the Sun + Moon Projectors.

Also near the arrival is a gift of yarn ball avatars in five different colors.

The knit creatures are delightful. During my visit, uplifting mambo was on the music stream.

Cica’s installations are usually around for about a month.

1Biennale 2018, Cherry Manga, Cica Ghost, Gem Preiz, Metropolis Metaversum, Venus Adored

The photo above was taken in Metropolis last autumn of Eye pavilion by Venus Adored on the left, and People pavilion by Cica Ghost on the right.

One of the artist cubes exhibit in Eye by Venus Adored (Netherlands) was The Hive by Cherry Manga (France).

A static photo cannot do justice to the changing lights and movement of the immersive installation.

I was assisted by Elle Thorkveld as her Metropolis avatar, showing scale in the photo above.

This installation is shown in the machinima, Touching Reality by WizardOz Chrome, mentioned in previous posts in this series.

Cherry Manga has created installations in Second Life and FrancoGrid.

The animated figures following a question mark are part of the People pavilion by Cica Ghost (Serbia).

Walking inside, there is a choice of two entrances to immerse in Isometrix by Gem Preiz (France).

Again, Elle provided a reference in the photo. She is standing on a clear walkway.

Gem Preiz is a fractal artist and has created many installations in Second Life.

Isometrix is beautiful and disorienting as the fractals can be seen in every direction.

Cica Ghost, The Girl Who Cried Wolf, virtual art installations

Opening today, Cica Ghost’s The Girl Who Cried Wolf is described as “a modification of Aesop’s fable, The Boy Who Cried Wolf.”

As always, the sim windlight is important; the music stream is perfect for the installation.  My photos are cropped, the exposure lightened for this post.

There is indeed a wolf; the sheep’s eyes are very expressive.

The sky is gorgeous and fast-moving. I enjoy the accessibility of Cica’s work, as well as hunting for details, such as a bee on a flower.

There are some poses and also sits in out-of-the way places for those who want to linger.

A wise sheep has taken refuge on higher ground. Birds are watchful.

There are shiny sparkles in some of the trees and rocks.

And Second Life being Second Life, my friend and I noted how we looked there. The light really picked up aspects of my dress, as it did hers, her hair and accessories.

Cica Ghost, Daydream, Veyot

Cica Ghost’s newest sim installation, Daydream, opened to the public two weeks ago today. This is my favorite installation by her in quite some time; I’m pleased that I’ve not only been able to visit several times, but I’m able to post about it before it closes. I am guessing it will be open at least two more weeks.

The windlight is beautiful; there’s a restful, soft, surreal atmosphere, accented by brightly colored flowers and delightful characters.

The ground is sprinkled with daisies, mushrooms, and fantastical creatures. There are poses and animations to aid avatars in including themselves in photos.

There are some familiar favorites; cats, birds, a materials-sparkling dragon can be found with a thorough exploration.

I’ve seen enjoyable photos on various media of this installation. A favorite is a Vimeo called A Lucky Day at Daydream, by Veyot, just a little over two minutes in length.

3D art, Cica Ghost, Future, Second Life, secondlife, virtual art, virtual reality installation

Opening yesterday, Sunday, August 6th, Future by Cica Ghost is a new installation on Seth Island.

The steel, cement, gray skies and water are evocative of a stark, dramatic beauty.

The uplifting parcel music balances what some might see as bleak, hinting at magic and and ongoing narrative.

From the land description:”If you don’t imagine, nothing ever happens at all.”
John Green

3D art installation, Bob Dylan, Cica Ghost, Fade Away, Second Life

Opening today at Noula, Fade Away is a monochrome installation by Cica Ghost.

Some of the figures, do indeed, appear and then fade away.

The ticking of clocks can be heard as you explore the installation.

”Some people seem to fade away but then when they are truly gone, it’s like they didn’t fade away at all.”

Bob Dylan

I enjoyed my initial visit and will return.

The photos here are cropped and otherwise raw. I don’t derender and considering all the avatars on the sim, I’m pleased with getting some photos I like.

Cica Ghost, Roots

Roots_007I’ve enjoyed visiting Cica Ghost’s Roots several times. It’s been well covered by bloggers and photographers. I’ve wisely not let that lull me into the false sense of having plenty of time that led to my unfortunately missing Strings. Roots_003I’ve walked on pixel feet, ridden the balloons, snapped photos and also visited without my camera. For these photos I’ve used the sim windlight provided; when I’ve spent wandering time there I used my go-to Lab Sunset lighting so I could see. Roots_001I’ve lightened the exposure on the photo above.

While most photographs I’ve seen have used the windlight provided, some avatars have used a variety of others with great results. Also, since flying is allowed, I’ve noticed some wonderful views and angles in photographs that I surely overlooked while I was there. There are many opportunities to take a variety of fascinating photos than the size of the sim might lead one to believe. Roots_002

“The people have gone… the village remains, and time and nature now live here …”Roots_011Time and nature indeed now live there but the place does not feel abandoned. There are birds in residence and cheerfully colored flowers. The little houses seem to have many stories they could tell.Roots_013Time has taken over, roots have intruded but there’s still space and possibilities. Roots_014I didn’t have the sense of feeling alone in an abandoned place. It seems watchful. (And I’m not counting the other avatars who happen to be visiting at the same time.)Roots_019And then there’s the snail!

balloons_004It seems like a while since I read that Balloons by Cica Ghost would only be around for a few weeks. It’s been well blogged and photographed and I wanted to see it for myself.balloons_001I used the region setting for these pictures and lightened the exposure a little. Mostly I just enjoyed my visit since it’s easy to photograph.balloons_005I picked up the free balloon. The cats are cute.balloons_006There’s a pose on a ladder and some interesting looking buildings.balloons_007A few of the figures are floating away. balloons_008Some are sitting quietly.balloons_009The colors are the muted neutrals that I like with bright flowers scattered about.balloons_010
