1Biennale 2018, Cherry Manga, Cica Ghost, Gem Preiz, Metropolis Metaversum, Venus Adored

The photo above was taken in Metropolis last autumn of Eye pavilion by Venus Adored on the left, and People pavilion by Cica Ghost on the right.

One of the artist cubes exhibit in Eye by Venus Adored (Netherlands) was The Hive by Cherry Manga (France).

A static photo cannot do justice to the changing lights and movement of the immersive installation.

I was assisted by Elle Thorkveld as her Metropolis avatar, showing scale in the photo above.

This installation is shown in the machinima, Touching Reality by WizardOz Chrome, mentioned in previous posts in this series.

Cherry Manga has created installations in Second Life and FrancoGrid.

The animated figures following a question mark are part of the People pavilion by Cica Ghost (Serbia).

Walking inside, there is a choice of two entrances to immerse in Isometrix by Gem Preiz (France).

Again, Elle provided a reference in the photo. She is standing on a clear walkway.

Gem Preiz is a fractal artist and has created many installations in Second Life.

Isometrix is beautiful and disorienting as the fractals can be seen in every direction.

There’s another week to see the current exhibit La Maison d’Aneli; it’s open until the 16th. Entering the gallery, you’ll see 2D work by Barbara Borromeo; walking towards the back, you’ll find a teleport to Cherry Manga’s exhibit. The photo above is of the Cherry Manga installation.

Cherry Manga was one of the first artists I became aware of when I rezzed into SL. It took a while for me to notice art in world; this may have been in 2012 or 2013.

The next time I saw the work of Cherry Manga was on the FrancoGrid in opensim. ( I used Firestorm Opensim viewer and explored several grids and even blogged about it several years ago. )

The 3D exhibit here is animated and dynamic; you walk into it and watch the movement from all angles.

Cherry Manga’s bio includes info about Fest’Avi on FrancoGrid and there’s a blog link.

Several free avatars are offered. A reminder, these photos cannot possibly do justice to the installation.

The 2D art pieces of Barbara Borromeo are a lovely complement to the 3D art of Cherry Manga.

Barbara Borromeo is an interior designer and artist in Milan. She has paintings and sculptures in an inworld gallery and on the Marketplace according to her bio.  She builds, landscapes and designs sims, houses, and clubs. She doesn’t speak English and has an inworld English speaking friend and agent.

Again, this exhibit is open until August 16.

The Cherry Park

The Cherry Park

The Cherry Park

Recently I visited The Cherry Park which is the creation of Cherry Manga. There were lots of magical things to see and even a mysterious haunted tower. I’ll have a few more photos tomorrow.

It was an enjoyable experience. I needed the break after signing up for an account at Island Oasis, which was an impulse decision after reading this. It wasn’t too difficult. I messed up getting my free island there but otherwise I’m doing O.K. for  the amount of time I had to learn.

The rental box for the free island needs to be clicked on once a week, which makes sense so they aren’t totally abandoned. The rules state that if it isn’t, the resident’s prims will be returned. I flew around and saw what looked like empty islands but on closer inspection they were rented. I got a bit hasty and when I saw a pink “available” rental box I clicked it and then noticed that someone had a gazebo, chairs and plants on the island. It seemed her items weren’t automatically returned when the rental expired and I never meant to grab someone’s space out from under them. I’ve put in a notecard about it and hope there is no awkwardness.

What surprised me the most is that I’m now interested in learning to build. When I saw all the free textures available and found the sandbox with all the instructions on signs along the fence I was suddenly less intimidated about learning to make  things. I might still be traumatized by how challenging Second Life was for me to learn. It’s difficult for me to learn things when other people are around, both in real life and in virtual reality.

My avatar is named Wren Grey there. She isn’t as pretty as Pearl but we won’t tell her that. She has no interest at all in role play or dancing so I guess she isn’t much fun. But it seems she wants to try to make furniture and houses.
